Position Summary: Lake Metroparks is seeking multiple part-time Operations Maintenance Technicians to perform building and grounds maintenance at our parks and facilities. Under the direction of an assigned maintenance supervisor or manager, this position provides custodial services, routine facility care, landscape maintenance, equipment operation, snow and ice control, and upkeep of public areas. Multiple positions may be available. The scheduled workload is up to 28 hours per week and may include weekdays, weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Required Training: All Park District employees must complete and maintain required training, which may include safety, fraud prevention, ethics, harassment prevention, and job-specific training.
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

The physical demands described are representative of those required to perform the essential functions of this position. The employee regularly stands and walks for extended periods; works on paved, uneven, sloped, wet, snowy, or icy surfaces; bends, stoops, kneels, crouches, reaches, climbs steps or ladders; and uses hands to handle tools, controls, and materials. The employee regularly lifts, carries, pushes, or pulls supplies and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds and may move heavier or bulky items with assistance or mechanical equipment. The work requires the ability to operate vehicles and equipment, recognize hazards, follow instructions, communicate effectively, and respond to changing site conditions.
Work is performed in park buildings, maintenance areas, public spaces, and outdoor locations throughout the year. Conditions may include heat, cold, humidity, rain, snow, dust, dirt, mud, noise, odors, low-light areas, and uneven, wet, snowy, or icy surfaces. The employee may work near participants and visitors, moving vehicles, powered equipment, cleaning products, fuels, lubricants, and other maintenance materials. Assignments may require work alone or with a crew, travel between locations, and schedule changes for weather, emergencies, programs, or facility needs. Required uniforms and task-appropriate personal protective equipment must be worn and used in accordance with Park District procedures.
Potential hazards include exposure to moving vehicles and equipment, sharp or powered tools, noise, vibration, cleaning and maintenance chemicals, fuels, hot surfaces, minor electrical sources, slips, trips, falls, lifting or material-handling injuries, and traffic in public or work areas. Outdoor work may involve severe weather, sun exposure, insects, ticks, wildlife, poison ivy, falling branches, and uneven, wet, snowy, or icy terrain. Snow and ice control, custodial work, and waste handling may also involve contact with deicing materials, biological contaminants, odors, or discarded sharp objects. The employee must follow training and established procedures, use required personal protective equipment, secure work areas, and promptly report hazards, incidents, damaged equipment, or conditions beyond the employee's training or authority.
