Job summary

Genesee & Wyoming Inc. is seeking a Maintenance of Way Supervisor to directly supervise employees and oversee day-to-day maintenance and repair activities in the M/W Department. You will coordinate with other departments to keep railroad operations efficient and on track with service goals.

The role requires strong supervisory experience, a focus on safety, and the ability to manage costs while ensuring compliance with corporate policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to self-motivate; prioritize; promote safe work habits; manage budgetary constraints.
• Minimum 5 years of rail industry experience.
• Prior supervisory experience in a maintenance environment.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise employees and activities in the Maintenance of Way Department.
• Interface with other departments to ensure efficient and organized operations of the railroad.
• Manage and ensure department meets its track, signal, and capital projects service goals.
• Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with policies and laws.
• Lead, direct and manage day-to-day activities of the Region's M/W Department.
• Oversee hourly technical craft employees and all supervisors in the M/W Department.
• Fill vacancies ensuring compliance with corporate policies and procedures.
• Enforce safety procedures; use of PPE and maintain required records.
• Monitor and control maintenance and related costs for the department.
• Ensure department meets track, signal and capital project service goals.
• Interviewing, hiring, training, planning, directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and addressing complaints.
