Job summary

Genesee & Wyoming is seeking a Foreman to lead Maintenance-of-Way crews, directing daily activities and ensuring track infrastructure meets safety and reliability standards. This hands-on leadership role blends supervision with planning and problem-solving to keep rail operations running smoothly.

The position emphasizes safety and teamwork in a dynamic environment, with on-site work across locations and a strong focus on meeting service goals and budgets.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and manuals.
• Basic computer skills (MS Office, reporting).
• Experience working outdoors is preferred.
• Strong safety awareness and decision making in a safety sensitive environment.

Responsibilities

• Direct and manage MoW crews in maintenance and repair projects.
• Coordinate with other teams to ensure organized railroad operations.
• Enforce safety procedures and maintain compliance records.
• Monitor costs to keep within budget and support department goals.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
