Job summary

The South Orange County Wastewater Authority is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to perform maintenance, repairs and rebuilds of wastewater plant mechanical equipment. Qualifications

• Minimum of two years hands-on experience in maintenance, repair, rebuild and service of mechanical equipment, pumps, motors, and piping systems found in a wastewater treatment plant.
• Knowledge of safe operation of hand and power tools, pickup trucks, forklifts, gas and electrical cutting and welding equipment; ability to communicate effectively.
• Thorough knowledge of precision measuring devices and diagnosing equipment; ability to follow shop practices.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and manual labor tasks.
• Perform preventive maintenance, repairs, overhauls and installations on mobile and/or stationary equipment.
• Check, test, troubleshoot, service, repair, rebuild, install and align pumps, motors, drive units and related equipment.
• Maintain records of work performed and prepare purchase requests for parts.
• Identify sources of mechanical problems and troubleshoot to correct.
