Job summary

The Willingboro Municipal Utilities Authority (WMUA) in Willingboro, New Jersey, is seeking a skilled Mechanic / Senior Sewage Plant Repairer Mechanic to maintain and repair wastewater treatment equipment, pumps, motors, and related systems. This full-time role supports safe, reliable plant operations.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, welding, and leading junior staff as needed, with focus on safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of experience maintaining and repairing complex industrial mechanical equipment.
• Experience in wastewater treatment, public utilities, public works, municipal operations, industrial maintenance, or a closely related environment desirable.
• Successful completion of one year of training in automotive technology, industrial maintenance, mechanical technology, or related discipline is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, overhaul, and maintain pumps, motors, blowers, compressors, piping, and other wastewater equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance and lubrication per manufacturer specs and WMUA schedules.
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and control malfunctions with testing tools.
• Repair and replace mechanical components including belts, gears, bearings, valves, and fittings.
• Operate and maintain vehicles and maintenance equipment safely; keep accurate work orders and logs.
