Job summary

Architect of the Capitol in Washington, DC seeks a Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor located within the Architect of the Capitol; Superintendent, House Office Buildings; Assistant Superintendent, Facilities Support Division; Mechanical Systems Branch. The role focuses on directing hands-on trades and maintenance across heating, cooling, electrical, and plumbing systems.

You will supervise five or more technicians, assign tasks, ensure safety, review work orders, and communicate clearly with staff

Qualifications

  • Experience supervising five or more workers in maintenance or skilled trades.
  • Ability to oversee building systems including heating, cooling, electrical, and plumbing.
  • Strong written and verbal communication to direct staff and contractors.

Come work with us as a Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor located in the Architect of the Capitol; Superintendent, House Office Buildings; Assistant Superintendent, Facilities Support Division; Mechanical Systems Branch; Mechanical Systems Day, Evening or Night Section.

You must meet all eligibility and qualification requirements by the closing date of the job announcement.

You must meet the following SCREEN-OUT(S) required for this position:

  • Ability to supervise employees performing trades, crafts, and labor functions of construction, renovation, installation projects and maintenance and repair projects work including: Supervising at least five workers in maintenance, facilities, construction, or other hands-on skilled trades work.
  • Overseeing work on building systems, including heating and cooling, electrical work, and plumbing.
  • Checking equipment and maintenance areas on a regular basis to look for safety problems or repair needs, writing down what you find, and giving workers tasks to fix the issues.
  • Communicating clearly in writing and in person with employees, supervisors, contractors, and others to give instructions, explain work, and solve daily work problems.
