Job Description: Maintenance Technician - Wallingford

Shift: Day Shift - 40 hours per week

Performs general and specialized maintenance tasks required by specific trade disciplines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Perform duties and maintain all areas according to their specialty, e.g., carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general maintenance.
2. Possess general knowledge and experience in varied areas such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and painting.
3. Select and apply paint, varnishes, stains, enamels, lacquers, and redecorate walls, woodwork, and fixtures using appropriate tools and techniques. Make sheetrock repairs.
4. Keep work area orderly, clean, and safe. Ensure proper care in the use of equipment and supplies.
5. Understand and follow universal precautions and chemical safety protocols relevant to the department.
6. Plan and prioritize assigned work to meet departmental needs.
7. Interact respectfully and reassuringly with others while performing duties.
8. Work as a team within the department and with other departments.
9. Work with blueprints and drawings.
10. Assist in snow removal operations.
11. Help cover the on-call schedule.
12. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education: High School diploma or equivalent; vocational/technical training preferred.

Experience: At least two years in a trade or four years of building maintenance experience.

Licensure: Valid State of Connecticut driver's license.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, process documentation, apply various painting techniques, handle multiple tasks, and meet physical demands of the position.
