Job summary

UFP Industries is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic I to perform basic preventative maintenance on machinery, equipment, and tools, and assist in building repairs. The role supports the Maintenance Department and requires hands-on experience in machine repair and safety.

Responsibilities include maintaining records, ordering parts, and complying with safety and environmental procedures. Training hours may vary; position pays hourly with shift differential, and full benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• At least 1 year of machine repair experience in maintenance.
• Knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and control systems; welding skills.
• Familiarity with safe equipment practices and applicable laws/regulations.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• If assigned to Treating Department, follow hazardous waste/material handling procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform regular preventative maintenance on machinery, equipment, tools, and building.
• Assist in repairing woodworking machinery, infeed/outfeed systems, hand tools, and forklifts.
• Order supplies and parts as required.
• Maintain records of repair and maintenance activities.
• Follow established safety rules and procedures.
• Keep work area clean and organized.
• Participate in safety, CI, and other programs and meetings.
• Prepare various reports as required.
• Perform other duties as required.

Job Summary

The Maintenance Mechanic I is responsible for performing basic preventative maintenance on machinery, equipment, and tools, and assists other members of the Maintenance Department in various machine/building repairs.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

• Performs regular, preventative maintenance on all machinery, equipment, tools, and building
• Assists in the repair of woodworking machinery, infeed/outfeed systems, hand tools, and forklifts in accordance with diagrams, operating manuals, and manufacturer specifications
• Orders supplies and parts as required
• Performs preventive maintenance as scheduled
• Maintains records of repair and maintenance activities
• Performs duties consistent with established safety rules and procedures
• Maintains a clean and organized work area
• Participates in safety, CI, and other programs and meetings
• If assigned to Treating Department, performs duties consistent with hazardous waste and hazardous material handling procedures and practices
• Prepares various reports as required
• Performs other duties as required

Qualifications

• High school diploma
• Minimum 1 year of experience in machine repair in maintenance
• Working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and control technology, and welding
• Working knowledge of safe equipment practices and applicable laws, rules, and regulations
• Demonstrate working knowledge of hazardous waste and hazardous material handling procedures and practices
• Must be at least 18 years of age

Compensation & Benefits Information

• Hourly/Salary Pay Range: $25 - $28 per hour + $2/shift differential
• pay range may be adjusted depending on cost of living and experience

For hourly positions with incentive pay: Incentive pay may be available for certain job roles and may include piece rate incentives, weekly production bonuses, and trip rate bonuses. A discretionary annual bonus based on Company and business unit performance may also be provided.
