Job summary

UFP Industries is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic I to perform basic preventative maintenance on machinery, equipment, and tools, and assist the Maintenance Department with repairs. The role requires hands-on technical work in a manufacturing setting.

Duties include servicing woodworking machinery, infeed/outfeed systems, hand tools, forklifts, ordering parts, maintaining records, following safety rules, keeping the area clean, and participating in safety and continuous improvement programs.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least 1 year of experience in machine repair within maintenance.
  • Knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, control systems, and welding.
  • Must be 18 years or older.

Responsibilities

  • Perform regular preventative maintenance on machinery, equipment, tools, and building.
  • Assist in repairing woodworking machinery, infeed/outfeed systems, hand tools, and forklifts per manuals.
  • Order supplies and parts as needed.
  • Maintain records of repairs and maintenance activities.
  • Follow safety rules and keep work area clean and organized.
  • Participate in safety and CI programs and meetings.
  • Perform hazardous waste/material handling procedures if assigned to Treating Department.
  • Prepare various reports as required.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Job Summary

The Maintenance Mechanic I is responsible for performing basic preventative maintenance on machinery, equipment, and tools, and assists other members of the Maintenance Department in various machine/building repairs.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performs regular, preventative maintenance on all machinery, equipment, tools, and building
  • Assists in the repair of woodworking machinery, infeed/outfeed systems, hand tools, and forklifts in accordance with diagrams, operating manuals, and manufacturer specifications
  • Orders supplies and parts as required
  • Performs preventive maintenance as scheduled
  • Maintains records of repair and maintenance activities
  • Performs duties consistent with established safety rules and procedures
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area
  • Participates in safety, CI, and other programs and meetings
  • If assigned to Treating Department, performs duties consistent with hazardous waste and hazardous material handling procedures and practices
  • Prepares various reports as required
  • Performs other duties as required
Qualifications
  • High school diploma
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in machine repair in maintenance
  • Working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and control technology, and welding
  • Working knowledge of safe equipment practices and applicable laws, rules, and regulations
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of hazardous waste and hazardous material handling procedures and practices
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
Hourly Pay Range:

$31.00-$41.00 hourly- dependent on experience*

*pay range may be adjusted depending on cost of living and compensation may vary depending on experience.

Bonus/Incentive Pay

Incentive pay may be available for certain job roles and may include piece rate incentives, weekly production bonuses, and trip rate bonuses.

A discretionary annual bonus based on Company and business unit performance may also be provided.
