Job summary

UFP Industries is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic I to perform basic preventative maintenance on machinery, equipment, and tools within our Buffalo facility. The role supports the Maintenance Department in machine and building repairs and requires working knowledge of safety practices.

The position emphasizes preventive maintenance, record-keeping, and adherence to regulatory standards. You will collaborate with the team, order parts, and participate in safety and process improvement programs.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma.
  • At least 1 year of machine repair experience in maintenance.
  • Knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and control technology, and welding.
  • Knowledge of safe equipment practices and applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of hazardous waste and hazardous material handling procedures and practices.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

  • Performs preventative maintenance on all machinery, equipment, tools, and building.
  • Assists in repair of woodworking machinery, infeed/outfeed systems, hand tools, and forklifts per manuals.
  • Orders supplies and parts as required.
  • Performs preventive maintenance as scheduled.
  • Maintains records of repair and maintenance activities.
  • Performs duties in accordance with safety rules and procedures.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area.
  • Participates in safety, CI, and other programs and meetings.
  • If assigned to Treating Department, handles hazardous waste procedures.
  • Prepares various reports as required.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities
  • Performs regular, preventative maintenance on all machinery, equipment, tools, and building
  • Assists in the repair of woodworking machinery, infeed/outfeed systems, hand tools, and forklifts in accordance with diagrams, operating manuals, and manufacturer specifications
  • Orders supplies and parts as required
  • Performs preventive maintenance as scheduled
  • Maintains records of repair and maintenance activities
  • Performs duties consistent with established safety rules and procedures
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area
  • Participates in safety, CI, and other programs and meetings
  • If assigned to Treating Department, performs duties consistent with hazardous waste and hazardous material handling procedures and practices
  • Prepares various reports as required
  • Performs other duties as required

Hourly Pay Range
  • $31.00-$41.00 hourly- dependent on experience*
  • pay range may be adjusted depending on cost of living and compensation may vary depending on experience.
Bonus/Incentive Pay
  • Incentive pay may be available for certain job roles and may include piece rate incentives, weekly production bonuses, and trip rate bonuses.
  • A discretionary annual bonus based on Company and business unit performance may also be provided.
