Job summary

Seattle Central College in the Facilities department seeks a Maintenance Mechanic - Lead Carpenter to perform journey-level carpentry, framing, doors, windows, and related work on campus buildings.

This is a full-time, on-site role with a 40-hour week, 6:00am–2:30pm, open for up to 18 months with potential for permanent status. Salary ranges from $55,512 to $72,816 annually, with WFSE union representation and benefits.

Qualifications

• Four or more years of building maintenance and carpentry experience.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Strong knowledge of carpentry materials, finishes, and safe practices.
• Experience working independently and coordinating projects.

Responsibilities

• Perform journey-level carpentry to build, remodel, and maintain campus spaces.
• Construct and repair framing, doors, windows, walls, cabinetry, and finishes.
• Install flooring and surface materials including wood, tile, and carpet.
• Read blueprints and work orders to determine requirements and sequencing.
• Evaluate needs, estimate labor, materials, and time for projects.
• Coordinate carpentry projects and provide guidance to assistants.
• Collaborate with Facilities staff and contractors to minimize disruption.
