Job summary

PetIQ is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Mechanic Lead to drive equipment reliability and supervise day-to-day facility operations. You will lead troubleshooting across electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems, while training mechanics and promoting a proactive maintenance culture.

You will manage CMMS accuracy, assist with inventory and parts organization, and provide occasional off-hours support. Excellent communication and leadership are essential to improve maintenance performance.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of experience as a Maintenance Lead or similar role.
  • Strong electrical meter knowledge (amp clamp, true RMS meter, megger).
  • Knowledge and competency with CMMS software.

Job description

We’re seeking a hands‑on Maintenance Mechanic Lead to drive equipment reliability and support day‑to‑day facility operations. This role combines advanced troubleshooting across electrical (12VDC–480VAC), pneumatic, and mechanical systems with team leadership responsibilities, including training mechanics and promoting a proactive maintenance culture. You’ll help manage CMMS accuracy, support inventory and parts organization, and step in to resolve issues—including occasional off‑hours support. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, clear communication, and the ability to lead effectively with minimal supervision while continuously improving maintenance performance.

Essential Functions And Job Duties
  • Maintain an organized, clean work area
  • Maintenance of equipment and building
  • Training the other mechanics in troubleshooting, motor repair and pneumatic troubleshooting will be a major focus of the Maintenance Lead
  • Assist in keeping CMMS software in order
  • May need to take phone calls and help troubleshoot during off hours
  • Assist in inventory and parts organization
  • Familiarity with electrical systems from 12VDC – 480VAC
  • Knowledge of pneumatic and vacuum systems
  • Knows all applicable Sanitation and Safety SOP’s
  • Knows general company policies and handbook policies
  • Maintain a positive attitude and promote proactive maintenance work
  • Maintains excellent communication and relationships with other employees to foster team effort
  • Seeks out new ways to improve productivity
  • Forklift Certified
  • Additional duties may be assigned and/or required
Personal Qualifications
  • A Lead Maintenance Mechanic should be able to perform many common industrial maintenance tasks and help other mechanics learn the same skills
  • Must be able to maintain productivity with limited supervision
  • Must be willing to make maintenance decisions when other leaders are not present
  • Training the other mechanics in troubleshooting, motor repair and pneumatic troubleshooting will be a major focus of the Maintenance Lead
  • Strong electrical and pneumatic troubleshooting and communication skills are required
  • Strong electrical meter knowledge including amp clamp, true RMS meter and megger
  • Must be able to work with limited supervision and have a willingness and desire to learn new equipment
  • Ability to work as part Ability to work as part of a team and maintain a positive attitude
  • Ability to adhere to schedule work hours
  • Maintain proper hygiene
  • Must be able to understand and follow verbal and written directions in English
Minimum Qualifications
  • 1-3 years of experience as a Maintenance Lead or similar role.
  • Strong electrical meter knowledge, including amp clamp, true RMS meter and megger
  • Knowledge and competency of CMMS software
Education Requirements
  • Competent in CMMS, Excel and Microsoft Word
  • PLC programming, SolidWorks/AutoCAD training or equivalent experience preferred
  • TIG/MIG welding and lathe/mill experience is preferred
  • High School Graduate or GED Equivalent
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to squat and bend for extended periods of time
  • Twisting and reaching are required
  • Pushing and pulling heavy loads
  • Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift up to 55 pounds regularly
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
