Job summary

Long Prairie Packing Company, LLC, an American Foods Group Company, maintains a Long Prairie, MN plant and seeks a Maintenance Mechanic to support daily operations. You will identify parts, perform welding, and conduct preventive maintenance to ensure equipment and facilities run reliably.

The role includes plumbing, hydraulics, electrical basics, and PM paperwork in the EAM system. Strong tool usage and safety training are essential for success in our food-processing environment.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Must successfully complete training: Safety, SQF, GMPs, HACCP, SOPs, Food defense, SSOPs, Lock out tag out, Forklift, Pallet jack.

Responsibilities

• Identify and locate parts/part numbers from manuals or catalogs for Cryovac, overhead conveyors and other equipment.
• Perform basic welding (tig and stick) and identify good/bad welds.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance to keep machines running smoothly and buildings in good condition.
• Assemble, install, or repair plumbing and equipment to maintain operation.
• Disassemble or replace defective equipment or parts (belts, gearboxes, etc.).
• Perform basic hydraulics tasks, including changing motors and hoses.
• Complete PM sheets and work orders in the EAM system.
• Basic knowledge of electrical components and operation.
• Assist in maintenance on scale equipment (portable, floor, matrix).
• Perform basic forklift maintenance (tires, bushings).
• Notify lead or supervisor of malfunctions or repairs needed.
• Note: duties are not all-inclusive and other related tasks may be assigned.
