Job summary

Long Prairie Packing Company, LLC, an American Foods Group Company, seeks a Maintenance Mechanic at its Long Prairie, MN plant. You will perform preventive maintenance, basic welding, plumbing, and electrical tasks while ensuring equipment reliability and safety.

Responsibilities include interpreting manuals, maintaining scale equipment, operating forklifts, and completing PMs. Must meet 18+ age, US work eligibility, and training requirements. Competitive pay and benefits offered.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Must be able to successfully complete training: Safety, SQF, GMPs, HACCP, SOPs, Food defense, SSOPs, Lock out tag out, Forklift, Pallet jack.
• High school diploma or GED.
• 6 months maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Reading drawings and blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Identify and locate parts/part numbers from manuals or catalogs.
• Perform basic welding ( TIG; and stick) and assess weld quality.
• Carry out routine preventive maintenance to ensure machines run smoothly and buildings operate efficiently.
• Assemble, install, or repair plumbing and equipment to maintain operations.
• Disassemble or replace defective equipment or parts such as belts or gearboxes.
• Perform basic hydraulics tasks including motor changes and hose work.
• Complete PM sheets and work orders in the EAM system.
• Have basic knowledge of electrical components and operation.
• Assist maintenance on scale equipment and forklift maintenance.
• Notify lead or supervisor of malfunctions or repairs needed.
• Other related duties as assigned.

Overview

Long Prairie Packing Company, LLC., an American Foods Group Company, has opportunities for a Maintenance Mechanic at our Long Prairie, MN plant.

As our Maintenance Mechanic, you will:

• Identify and locate parts/part numbers from machinery or equipment manuals or parts catalogs (e.g., Cryovac, overhead chains, rail switches, conveyors, saws, etc.).
• Perform basic welding (e.g., primarily tig; and stick). Ability to identify good and bad welds.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance (e.g., grease bearings, lubricate, check fluid levels, replace filters, etc.) to ensure that machines run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently or the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.
• Assemble, install, or repair plumbing (e.g., threading pipe), equipment or machinery to keep machines, mechanical equipment, or the structure of an establishment in repair.
• Assemble, disassemble, repair, or replace defective equipment or parts (e.g., change belts, gearboxes, etc.).
• Perform basic hydraulics (e.g., change motors, make hoses, etc.).
• Complete necessary paperwork in EAM system (PM sheets, work orders, etc.).
• Basic knowledge of electrical components and operation.
• Assist in performing maintenance on scale equipment (e.g., portable, floor, and matrix - hot/cold) in applicable area(s).
• Perform basic forklift maintenance (change tires, replace bushings, etc.).
• Notify lead or supervisor of any malfunctions or repairs needed.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

• Must be 18 years of age or older.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience using hand and power tools, precision measuring tools and the ability to read and work from drawings and blueprints.
