Job summary

Florida Department of Corrections is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic at Franklin Correctional Institution to perform maintenance, preventive maintenance, and repair of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and related systems. Reporting to the Maintenance Department, you will ensure safe, functional facilities.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent with 1 year of trade experience (or 4+ years general maintenance); valid Class E driver's license; non-telework position; background

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required with at least 1 year of experience in trades (plumbing, carpentry, welding, drywall, roofing, or food service equipment repair) OR four or more years of general maintenance experience.
• College or vocational/technical training in one of the listed trades may substitute for the required experience.
• Valid Class E Driver’s License is required.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance, preventive maintenance, and repair of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, cabinetry, carpentry, masonry, welding, drywall, roofing and related systems.
• On-the-job training to supervised inmates in relevant trades.
• Plan, organize, and requisition parts, maintain logs and records per Department guidelines.
• Prepare reports and manage custody and control of assigned inmates; participate in training.
