Job summary

Thomas Jefferson University is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for Center City, Philadelphia, to oversee safety lighting, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems. You will perform periodic inspections, log equipment status, and respond to maintenance calls to ensure continuous operation.

The role requires 3 years with technical schooling or 4 years without, and includes testing generators with electricians, record-keeping, and preventive maintenance across multiple facility systems.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; Technical School preferred.
• 3 years of experience with technical school or 4 years without.

Responsibilities

• Make checks of all mechanical area equipment and log in same.
• Handle maintenance calls from the main office.
• Maintain records as required.
• Test and run emergency generators with electricians.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
• Maintain and repair distribution systems involving vacuum, medical air, medical gas systems and air compressors.
• Maintain and repair pneumatic equipment in engine rooms and piping systems.
• Do minor electrical work such as disconnecting motor leads and resetting breakers.
• Change air filters in large air handling equipment and perform cleaning/painting of mechanical areas.
• Minor plumbing repairs including fixtures, valves, and leaks; condenser cleaning on chillers and water towers.
