Job summary

WestRock in Dayton, NJ is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic on the 3rd shift. You will troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical/electronic equipment including programmable controls, drives, and test equipment.

Install, start up and shut down equipment following safety procedures and OSHA guidelines. You will train other maintenance staff, maintain records, and perform preventive maintenance, with PLC programming knowledge required.

Qualifications

• Must be educationally certified through a tech or trade school beyond High School.
• Proven safety-conscious mindset.
• Experience in electrical/electronics, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic fields with high proficiency.
• Knowledge of electrical/electronic components and diagnostic instruments.
• Willingness to work any shift and overtime as required.
• Computer experience/PLC programming necessary.
• High precision work with tight tolerances.
• Ability to access overhead structures and work in tight spaces.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical/electronic equipment including programmable controls, numerically controlled devices, power supplies, drives, gauges and test equipment.
• Plans and performs work with knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical principles, codes, materials, and operation of electronic equipment.
• Installs, starts up and shuts down equipment following safety procedures and OSHA requirements.
• Advises operators and line mechanics on operation procedures and safety requirements.
• Maintains maintenance records for identified equipment.
• Performs preventive maintenance functions as directed.
• Assists maintenance personnel with technical troubleshooting.
• Assists and trains other maintenance and/or technical staff.

Maintenance Mechanic - Dayton, NJ

Shift: 3rd Shift

Pay: $35.39/hr

The starting range is $35.39/hr-$40.31/hr depending on your role, level, and location.

How you will impact WestRock

• Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical/electronic equipment including but not limited to programmable controls, numeral controls, power supplies, drives, gages and test equipment
• Plans and performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical theories and principles, writing specifications, local and national electrical codes, properties of various materials, and principles of operation and application of electronic equipment
• Installs, starts up and shuts down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures for machine activation and shutdown and in line with OSHA requirements
• Advises operators and line mechanics of operation procedures and requirements for working safely with electrical/electronic and mechanical equipment and components
• Informs appropriate management and line mechanics of potential electrical/mechanical problems and inherent dangers involved
• Maintains company-required performance and maintenance records for identified equipment
• Performs preventive maintenance functions as directed
• Assists maintenance personnel with technical troubleshooting
• Assists and trains other maintenance and/or other technical level employees
• Performs other duties as required

What you will need to succeed

• Must be educationally certified through a tech or trade school beyond High School
• Must be highly safety conscious
• Proven experience in the electrical/electronics, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic fields are required and the ability to demonstrate high proficiency in these areas
• A thorough knowledge of electrical/ electronic components and equipment including the use of special instruments for diagnostic purposes
• Willing to work any shift and overtime as required
• Computer experience/operation and PLC programming are necessary
• High degree of precision working with minimum tolerances required
• Ability to climb in overhead structures, to work beneath machines and in close quarters performing analysis and repair work

Physical Requirements

• The employee is frequently required to walk, occasionally required to sit, climb, or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
• The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects up to twenty (20) pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to fifty (50) pounds
• May on occasion have to work long hours and overtime during emergencies, weekends, holidays, planned major equipment outages, etc.
