Job summary

WestRock in West Chester, OH is seeking Electrical Maintenance Technicians to lead complex maintenance tasks, install and repair mechanical/electrical equipment, and ensure safe operations across shifts. The role requires strong electrical knowledge, PLC programming, and hands-on experience in an industrial setting.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, equipment testing, and guiding junior staff, with pay rate from 32 USD/hour plus robust benefits.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ electrical maintenance experience in industrial or manufacturing setting.
  • Military training and/or technical school preferred but not required.
  • Computer experience/operation and PLC Programming.
  • Ability to maintain various manufacturing equipment, follow directions and perform other duties.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the maintenance tasks across I, II, and III levels.
  • Perform mechanical and electrical duties for equipment installation, testing and repair.
  • Identify malfunctions by observing machinery operation and sounds.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on plant machinery and facilities.
  • Install electrical power, control, and security systems.
  • Repair computer-controlled manufacturing systems.
  • Provide guidance to management on technical topics.
  • Operate tools and equipment for testing and repair of mechanical equipment.
  • Fabricate, assemble and disassemble manufactured products.

Electrical Maintenance Technicians - West Chester, OH

Electrical Maintenance Technicians are responsible for leading,oversee and guide the most complex and difficult tasks that are assigned to Maintenance Technician I,II and III’s who are responsible for performing a variety of skilled mechanicalwork in maintenance, installation, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of equipment while providing hands on assistance as well. They will also perform highly skilled mechanical and electrical work under the general supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor. Electrical Maintenance Technician's will have a strong working knowledge and ability to perform all task as specified within the Maintenance Technician I,II and III’s position descriptions in addition to those specified within this description.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING

  • Lead, plan and review the work of in the Maintenance I, II, and III riles that are responsible for performing mechanical and/or electrical duties in the maintenance, repair, inspection, testing, and installation of mechanical/electrical equipment including structural.
  • Observe or listen to machinery or equipmentoperationtodetect and identifymalfunction.
  • PerformPreventativemaintenanceworkonplantmachinery and facilitiesmaintenance.
  • Develop,design orcreatenewapplications,ideas,systemsorproducts,includingartisticcontributions.
  • Identify educational needs of others, develop educationalor trainingprogramsor classesand teach orinstruct others.
  • Identify the developmental needs of others and by utilizing the skillsof coachingand mentoringhelpothersto improve theirknowledge orskills.
  • Install electronic power, communication, controlorsecurityequipmentorsystems.
  • Repair computer-controlled manufacturingsystems.
  • Provide guidance and expert advice to management or othergroupsortechnicalsystemsorprocessrelatedtopics.
  • Interpret, explainand enforce departmentpoliciesandprocedures to reach fullandaccurate understanding.
  • Operate various tools,instruments and equipment used in the testing and repar of mechanicalequipment.
  • Fabricate, assemble, and disassemble manufacturedproducts by hand.
  • Use acetylenewelding/cutting torches and combinationweldingprocedures
  • Use electricalorelectronicdevices or equipment.
  • Operate with advanced handtools both powered and manual.
  • Setup and operate a variety of machinetoolssuchas a drillpress, latheand/orweldingequipment.
  • Operate maintenance vehicles including aerial lifts, personneltransportvehicles and forklifts.
  • Work as a safe and efficient manner in accordance with companypoliciesandprocedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What you need to succeed
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 5 years’ electrical maintenance experience in industrial or manufacturing setting
  • Military training and/or technical school preferred but not required.
  • Computer experience/operation and PLC Programming
  • Ability to maintain various manufacturing equipment, follow specific directions, and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Ability to work safely, maintain a clean and safe work environment, and comply with all safety regulations.
  • A thorough knowledge of electrical components and equipment including the use of special instruments for diagnostic purposes.
Other Qualifications

In-house electrical authorization must be obtained prior to conducting any electrical assignments.Working knowledge of:

  • Operations,servicesandactivitiesofallareasofmechanicalandelectricalmaintenance.
  • All equipment and supplies commonly used in the mechanical orelectrical trade.
  • Method and techniques pertaining to installation, maintenance and repair of mechanical systems.
  • Occupational hazards and standard safety practices(Includingbutnotlimited to;NFPA, OE,OSHA,and WestRock).
  • Operationalcharacteristicsofavarietyofmeasuringandtestingequipmentandtoolsformechanical
  • maintenance.
  • Applicable codes and ordinances related to mechanical trade.
  • A person in this position must possess the ability to:
  • Lead, organize and reviewtheworkofmaintenancestaff.
  • Independently perform the most difficult mechanical maintenance,repair,installationandtesting functions on all but the most sophisticatedequipment.
  • Workindependentlyintheabsenceofsupervision.
  • Complete all work with quality workmanship and quality repairs.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should possess working knowledge asitpertainstothe operations,services and activities performedbyand within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)program
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

The starting rate is $32 per hour or more, depending on your role, level, and location.
