Job summary

Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) in Vancouver, WA is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic 3 to ensure facilities and equipment operate safely and efficiently. You will work across multiple trades, performing repairs and preventive maintenance to keep rest areas, radio sites, and regional assets in top condition.

The role requires journey-level knowledge, CDL class A (with no air brakes restriction) within 12 months, and the ability to operate state vehicles.

Qualifications

• Journey-level trade knowledge demonstrated through apprenticeship, journey-level status or equivalent experience.
• Ability to perform skilled maintenance, repair, and modification of building facilities and mechanical systems.
• Ability to assess issues, develop repairs, and safely complete or coordinate work.
• Document preventive maintenance across multiple facility systems to maintain reliability.

Responsibilities

• Independently make repairs and preventive maintenance to building structures (roofing, plumbing, carpentry, windows, doors).
• Repair and modify potable and non-potable water systems, piping, fixtures, and related devices.
• Repair and replace plumbing, piping, fixtures, and related mechanical devices.
• Perform drainage system maintenance and related tasks.
• Maintain fire alarm, security, and power gate systems region-wide.
