ABOUT THE JOB:

Under supervision, perform mechanical and preventative maintenance work. Diagnose and repair gas, diesel, and heavy equipment, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and general plant equipment. Coordinate with maintenance personnel and production crews, and work on special projects with the Maintenance Mechanic and/or Plant Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Fabricate and modify equipment as needed
• Maintain power equipment such as forklifts and manlifts
• Collaborate with other mechanics on repairs
• Perform general maintenance throughout the facility
• Support safety, environmental, and equipment programs
• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain machinery
• Perform preventative maintenance and inspections
• Design and build new equipment, modify existing equipment
• Assist the Plant Manager on projects
• Maintain reliable attendance to perform essential functions

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
• Basic knowledge of mechanics, hydraulics, or electronics
• Experience with diesel engines and equipment such as motors and forklifts
• Ability to read blueprints
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to operate hand tools, mobile and stationary equipment, drill press

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training preferred
