Caterpillar has an exciting opportunity for a Foundry Machine Repair Mechanic at our Mapleton Seals Facility. This is a 2nd shift position for our weekend crew (Friday – Monday). Pay starts at $35.81/hr plus $1/hour shift differential. Benefits include health insurance, paid time off, holidays, 401K, etc.

As a Foundry Machine Repair Mechanic, you will inspect equipment and plan repairs, check blueprints and diagrams, perform layout work and fabrication, and use various hand tools and equipment to dismantle, repair, replace, and reassemble parts. You will also assemble and align gears, bearings, cams, and shafts, and operate machinery such as drill presses, lathes, mills, grinders, power saws, and threading machines.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

1. Perform maintenance pipefitting on all equipment
2. Change, set up, and adjust equipment
3. Lubricate equipment as required
4. Use checking equipment, laser tools, and power tools
5. Install, repair, and maintain pumps
6. Operate hydraulic equipment, metal cutting/forming tools, compressors, valves, turbines, and material handling equipment

Basic Qualifications:

• Pass a 2-hour skills exam (Ramsay Test)
• 3-5 years maintenance experience

Physical Qualifications: Ability to work near high voltage electricity, molten metal, heavy equipment, gases, moving machinery, high places, and confined areas.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Strong mechanical background
• Machine shop experience
• Technical degree/diploma
• Welding, cutting, soldering, and brazing skills

Additional Information:

• Full benefits
• Starting salary: $34.36 plus $0.75/hour shift differential
• Location: Mapleton, Illinois
• Shift: 2nd shift (3:00 pm - 11:00 pm, Sunday night - Friday morning)
• No relocation reimbursement
