Maintenance Mechanic, 2nd Shift

The Role:

The Maintenance Technician plays a crucial role in the smooth operation of our company's machinery and mechanical equipment. This includes engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment. They use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring and testing instruments, along with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer's specifications, to repair and maintain these vital components.

Your Responsibilities:
  1. Observe and listen to operating machines, mechanical devices, or equipment to diagnose machine malfunction and determine the need for adjustment or repair.
  2. Dismantle machine, device, or equipment to examine parts for defects or to remove defective parts. You may use hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools.
  3. Replace defective parts with new parts or repair or reproduce parts from various kinds of metal stock, using hand tools such as scraper, file, and drill and machine tools such as lathe, milling machine, shaper, borer, and grinder.
  4. Test malfunctioning machinery using test equipment and discuss malfunction with other maintenance staff to diagnose the issue.
  5. Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments using hand tools, an electrical multimeter, gauges, feeler gauges, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
  6. Perform routine preventative maintenance on machines as scheduled and required for TPM.
  7. Conduct tests and inspections of equipment or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
  8. Take appropriate corrective action in emergencies such as power, water, heating, and air equipment failures, fires, etc.
  9. Perform, assist, or direct work in building modifications or plant/office layout changes as assigned.
  10. Maintain general facility and office equipment in a safe state of repair.
  11. Perform routine inspections of safety equipment as required.
  12. Conduct general equipment inspection for safety requirements and recommend appropriate action to the manager.
  13. Contact contracted vendors for maintenance procedures as required.
  14. Maintain an inventory of required spare parts for critical production equipment.
Requirements:
  1. High school diploma or general education degree (GED); at least 1+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience with production processes, machines, and/or tools.
  2. Thorough knowledge of general shop tools and equipment required in maintenance procedures.
  3. Perform work requiring continual attention to detail in follow-through, establishing priorities, and meeting deadlines.
