Job summary

Long Prairie Packing Company, LLC is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic at our Long Prairie, MN plant to perform preventive maintenance, welding, plumbing, and repairs on equipment and facilities in a meat processing setting.

You will work with conveyors, gearboxes, scale equipment, and building systems, document PMs, and follow SQF/GMP procedures to ensure safe, efficient operations. Competitive pay and benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• At least 6 months of maintenance experience in manufacturing.
• Ability to read and work from drawings and blueprints; use hand and power tools.

Responsibilities

• Identify and locate parts from manuals and catalogs for machinery and equipment.
• Perform basic welding and verify weld quality.
• Conduct routine preventive maintenance on machines and building systems.
• Assemble, install, or repair plumbing, equipment, or machinery.
• Repair or replace defective equipment or parts such as belts and gearboxes.
• Perform basic hydraulics tasks and change motors as needed.
• Complete PM sheets and work orders in the EAM system.
• Have basic knowledge of electrical components and operation.
• Assist in maintaining scale equipment and forklift components.
• Notify lead or supervisor of malfunctions or repairs needed.
• Other related duties as required.

Long Prairie Packing Company, LLC., an American Foods Group Company, has opportunities for a Maintenance Mechanic at our Long Prairie, MN plant.

As Our Maintenance Mechanic, You Will

• Identify and locate parts/part numbers from machinery or equipment manuals or parts catalogs (e.g., Cryovac, overhead chains, rail switches, conveyors, saws, etc.).
• Perform basic welding (e.g., primarily tig; and stick). Ability to identify good and bad welds.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance (e.g., grease bearings, lubricate, check fluid levels, replace filters, etc.) to ensure that machines run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently or the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.
• Assemble, install, or repair plumbing (e.g., threading pipe), equipment or machinery to keep machines, mechanical equipment, or the structure of an establishment in repair.
• Assemble, disassemble, repair, or replace defective equipment or parts (e.g., change belts, gearboxes, etc.).
• Perform basic hydraulics (e.g., change motors, make hoses, etc.).
• Complete necessary paperwork in EAM system (PM sheets, work orders, etc.).
• Basic knowledge of electrical components and operation.
• Assist in performing maintenance on scale equipment (e.g., portable, floor, and matrix - hot/cold) in applicable area(s).
• Perform basic forklift maintenance (change tires, replace bushings, etc.).
• Notify lead or supervisor of any malfunctions or repairs needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications (Required):
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
