Job summary

Long Prairie Packing Company, LLC, an American Foods Group Company, is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic at our Long Prairie, MN plant. You will perform preventive maintenance, welding, plumbing, hydraulics, and basic electrical tasks to keep equipment and facilities in top condition.

The role requires basic tool use, forklift familiarity, and the ability to read drawings, follow SOPs, and complete EAM paperwork.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Must complete listed training: Safety, SQF, GMPs, HACCP, SOPs, Food defense, SSOPs, Lock out tag out, Forklift, Pallet jack.

Responsibilities

• Identify and locate parts/part numbers from manuals or catalogs (e.g., Cryovac, conveyors, saws).
• Perform basic welding and identify good/bad welds (tig and stick).
• Perform routine preventive maintenance to keep machines running smoothly.
• Assemble/install/repair plumbing to keep equipment and facilities in repair.
• Assemble, disassemble, repair, or replace defective equipment or parts.
• Perform basic hydraulics and electrical component knowledge.
• Complete paperwork in EAM system (PM sheets, work orders).
• Assist in maintenance on scale equipment and basic forklift maintenance.
• Notify lead or supervisor of malfunctions or repairs needed.

Overview

Long Prairie Packing Company, LLC., an American Foods Group Company, has opportunities for a Maintenance Mechanic at our Long Prairie, MN plant.

As Our Maintenance Mechanic, You Will

• Identify and locate parts/part numbers from machinery or equipment manuals or parts catalogs (e.g., Cryovac, overhead chains, rail switches, conveyors, saws, etc.).
• Perform basic welding (e.g., primarily tig; and stick). Ability to identify good and bad welds.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance (e.g., grease bearings, lubricate, check fluid levels, replace filters, etc.) to ensure that machines run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently or the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.
• Assemble, install, or repair plumbing (e.g., threading pipe), equipment or machinery to keep machines, mechanical equipment, or the structure of an establishment in repair.
• Assemble, disassemble, repair, or replace defective equipment or parts (e.g., change belts, gearboxes, etc.).
• Perform basic hydraulics (e.g., change motors, make hoses, etc.).
• Complete necessary paperwork in EAM system (PM sheets, work orders, etc.).
• Basic knowledge of electrical components and operation.
• Assist in performing maintenance on scale equipment (e.g., portable, floor, and matrix - hot/cold) in applicable area(s).
• Perform basic forklift maintenance (change tires, replace bushings, etc.).
• Notify lead or supervisor of any malfunctions or repairs needed.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications (Required)

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.

  • Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP)

  • Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs)

  • Forklift
  • Pallet jack

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 6 months maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Prior experience using hand and power tools, precision measuring tools and the ability to read and work from drawings and blueprints.
