Job summary

Long Prairie Packing Company, LLC, an American Foods Group Company, seeks a Maintenance Mechanic at the Long Prairie, MN plant. You will maintain and repair machinery, perform preventive maintenance, and assist with plumbing, electrical tasks, and scale equipment in a fast-paced food processing environment.

The role requires basic welding, hydraulics, and forklift maintenance skills, plus the ability to read drawings and follow SOPs. Training in SQF, GMPs, HACCP, and safety programs is expected.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Must successfully complete training: Safety, SQF, GMPs, HACCP, SOPs, Food defense, SSOPs, Lock out tag out, Forklift, Pallet jack.

Responsibilities

• Identify and locate parts/part numbers from manuals or catalogs.
• Perform basic welding (tig and stick) and assess weld quality.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance to keep machines and buildings in good condition.
• Assemble, install, or repair plumbing and equipment as needed.
• Repair or replace defective equipment and parts (belts, gearboxes, etc.).
• Perform basic hydraulic work and system adjustments.
• Complete PM sheets and work orders in the EAM system.
• Basic knowledge of electrical components and operation.
• Assist maintenance on scale equipment and forklift maintenance.
• Notify lead or supervisor of malfunctions or needed repairs.

Overview

Long Prairie Packing Company, LLC., an American Foods Group Company, has opportunities for a Maintenance Mechanic at our Long Prairie, MN plant.

As our Maintenance Mechanic, you will:

• Identify and locate parts/part numbers from machinery or equipment manuals or parts catalogs (e.g., Cryovac, overhead chains, rail switches, conveyors, saws, etc.).
• Perform basic welding (e.g., primarily tig; and stick). Ability to identify good and bad welds.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance (e.g., grease bearings, lubricate, check fluid levels, replace filters, etc.) to ensure that machines run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently or the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.
• Assemble, install, or repair plumbing (e.g., threading pipe), equipment or machinery to keep machines, mechanical equipment, or the structure of an establishment in repair.
• Assemble, disassemble, repair, or replace defective equipment or parts (e.g., change belts, gearboxes, etc.).
• Perform basic hydraulics (e.g., change motors, make hoses, etc.).
• Complete necessary paperwork in EAM system (PM sheets, work orders, etc.).
• Basic knowledge of electrical components and operation.
• Assist in performing maintenance on scale equipment (e.g., portable, floor, and matrix - hot/cold) in applicable area(s).
• Perform basic forklift maintenance (change tires, replace bushings, etc.).
• Notify lead or supervisor of any malfunctions or repairs needed.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

• Must be 18 years of age or older.

• 6 months maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Prior experience using hand and power tools, precision measuring tools and the ability to read and work from drawings and blueprints.
