Long Prairie Packing Company, LLC in Long Prairie, Minnesota, is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to support our beef processing facility. You will identify parts from manuals, perform basic welding, and carry out preventive maintenance to keep equipment and building systems running smoothly.

The role requires basic electrical understanding, forklift maintenance, and ability to read drawings. Training includes SQF, GMPs, HACCP, SOPs, and lockout/tagout; experience with EAM work orders is a plus.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Training: Safety, SQF, GMPs, HACCP, SOPs, Food defense, SSOPs, Lock out tag out, Forklift, Pallet jack.

Responsibilities

• Identify and locate parts/part numbers from manuals or catalogs.
• Perform basic welding (tig; stick) and evaluate weld quality.
• Carry out preventive maintenance to keep machines and systems running.
• Assemble/repair plumbing and equipment; replace defective parts as needed.
• Perform basic hydraulics and forklift maintenance; complete paperwork in the EAM system.

Overview

Long Prairie Packing Company, LLC., an American Foods Group Company, has opportunities for a Maintenance Mechanic at our Long Prairie, MN plant. As our Maintenance Mechanic, you will:Identify and locate parts/part numbers from machinery or equipment manuals or parts catalogs (e.g., Cryovac, overhead chains, rail switches, conveyors, saws, etc.).Perform basic welding (e.g., primarily tig; and stick). Ability to identify good and bad welds.Perform routine preventive maintenance (e.g., grease bearings, lubricate, check fluid levels, replace filters, etc.) to ensure that machines run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently or the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.Assemble, install, or repair plumbing (e.g., threading pipe), equipment or machinery to keep machines, mechanical equipment, or the structure of an establishment in repair. Assemble, disassemble, repair, or replace defective equipment or parts (e.g., change belts, gearboxes, etc.).Perform basic hydraulics (e.g., change motors, make hoses, etc.).Complete necessary paperwork in EAM system (PM sheets, work orders, etc.).Basic knowledge of electrical components and operation.Assist in performing maintenance on scale equipment (e.g., portable, floor, and matrix - hot/cold) in applicable area(s).Perform basic forklift maintenance (change tires, replace bushings, etc.).Notify lead or supervisor of any malfunctions or repairs needed.NOTE: this description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
