Job summary

Amcor in Illinois seeks a Maintenance Mechanic to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production machinery and plant systems (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic). You will perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and respond to emergencies to minimize downtime.

Read electrical schematics and blueprints, operate shop tools, document work, and ensure GMP compliance. This role requires multi‑craft skills and a commitment to safety.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of maintenance technician experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
• Experience with PLC systems (Allen-Bradley), VFDs, servo systems, instrumentation, and 480 VAC power distribution.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical blueprints.
• Strong troubleshooting, critical thinking, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production machinery and plant systems (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic).
• Perform preventive maintenance and inspections for safe, reliable operation.
• Respond to emergency repairs to minimize downtime.
• Install, modify, fabricate, and relocate machinery and facility systems using multi‑craft skills.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical blueprints, and technical docs.
• Operate shop equipment and use tools safely and effectively.
• Document work, requisition materials, and maintain maintenance records.
• Follow environmental, safety, sanitation, and GMP requirements.
