Job summary

Leggett & Platt Flooring division in Statesville, NC is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to support process improvements in carpet cushion production. You will assemble machinery, read blueprints, and perform preventative maintenance under the Maintenance Supervisor. Schedule is Mon-Fri 6:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. with some Saturdays.

The role emphasizes teamwork, safety, and hands-on use of tools to build and repair equipment, ensuring quality and efficient operation of manufacturing lines.

Qualifications

• 2+ years industrial/manufacturing experience.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematics.
• Basic math, reading and writing skills.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
• Ability to use various hand tools.
• Available to work on Saturdays.

Responsibilities

• Assemble machinery and fabricated components according to directions.
• Read blueprints or schematics and build to spec.
• Use hand tools and power tools to complete tasks.
• Maintain equipment and perform basic repairs.
• Periodically check products for quality and notify supervisor of issues.

Job description

The Leggett & Platt Flooring division, located in Statesville, NC is searching for Maintenance Mechanic. The Maintenance Mechanic will help successfully implement designs and build parts/machines to improve current processes in the production of carpet cushion, as well as perform preventative maintenance on manufacturing equipment.

As a Maintenance Mechanic, you will take direction from the Maintenance Supervisor to assist in completing projects that will improve current processes in the manufacturing of carpet cushion. The work schedule is Monday thruFriday, 6:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., with some required Saturday’s.

So, what will you be doing as a Maintenance Mechanic?

• Assemble machinery, fabricated metal products, electrical equipment, and more according to directions
• Read blueprints, schematics, or similar documentation, then build to those specifications
• Use various machines and hand tools and power tools to accomplish assigned tasks
• Maintain equipment and perform basic repairs when needed
• Periodically check products to ensure quality and uniform completion; resolve any identified problems and alert supervisor
• Performs other related duties as assigned

To be successful in this role, you’ll need to have the following:

• Have at least 2 years Industrial/Manufacturing experience
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematics
• Basic ability in mathematics, reading, or writing
• Ability to work independently or as a team to complete tasks
• Ability to maintain a safe work environment
• Ability to use various hand tools
• Available to work on some Saturday’s
