Job Summary:
The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing equipment in the facility. This includes performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting issues, maintaining cleanliness, and escalating problems as needed, all according to engineering drawings and specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose equipment failures, identify root causes, and communicate repair actions to the team.
- Perform preventative maintenance on pumps, motors, die cutter machines, hydraulic systems, conveyors, steam systems, and related plant equipment.
- Follow safety protocols including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and 5S to ensure a safe work environment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, electrical drawings, and operating manuals to repair and maintain equipment.
- Complete maintenance tasks according to manufacturing schedules and within standard timeframes.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the maintenance area; conduct spare parts inventory audits.
- Repair or rebuild equipment and recommend solutions to prevent repetitive breakdowns.
- Use hand and power tools, hoists, cranes, forklifts, and welding equipment to dismantle and repair machinery.
- Collaborate with subcontractors for equipment and facility repairs.
- Order repair parts and supplies as needed.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the maintenance department.
Additional Duties:
- Promote workplace safety and adhere to all safety policies.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Operations, and Purchasing teams for maintenance and equipment improvements.
- Maintain documentation including job orders, quality records, and maintenance reports.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of electrical or mechanical maintenance experience (or as determined by hiring manager).
- High school diploma or GED required; trade school training in mechanics or CNC preferred.
- Industrial maintenance certification preferred but not required.
Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of aerospace specifications, quality standards, and codes a plus.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and electrical drawings.
- Proficient in use of hand and power tools.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work accurately with attention to detail.
- Basic computer literacy including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and maintenance tracking software.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Good communication skills and ability to assist in training new staff or subcontractors.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted and handle equipment using carts or forklifts.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and climb ladders frequently during work hours.
- Work environment includes machine shops with good lighting and task-specific safety measures.
- Exposure to noise, moving mechanical parts, chemicals, heat, and fumes may occur.
- Safety glasses and personal protective equipment (PPE) are required.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Effective interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes and maintenance databases.
- Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Facility maintenance experience including plumbing, commercial electrical work, and building upkeep.
- Equipment operation experience with forklifts and cranes.
- Fabrication and welding skills (MIG, TIG, ARC, Stick) a plus.
- Adherence to safety practices and protocols.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour
Schedule:
- 10 hour shift
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- Overtime
Experience:
- Mechanical Maintenance: 2 years (Preferred)
- Electrical Knowledge: 1 year (Preferred)
