Job summary

CMC, a Fortune 500® company, seeks a maintenance technician in Pooler, GA to monitor and inspect equipment, perform repairs, and support safety programs across our steel, construction reinforcement, and ground stabilization operations.

You will work on repairing and maintaining shop machinery, operating with hand/power tools, and training on new equipment as part of a collaborative team committed to safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Welding skills preferred.
  • Able to read technical documents and service manuals.
  • Experience servicing and repairing industrial equipment.
  • Follow OSHA, EPA, and company safety policies.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively monitor and inspect equipment for defects.
  • Participates in the CMC Safety Programs and upholds safety culture.
  • Perform all facets of repair safely using hand and power tools.
  • Repair and maintain shop machinery and equipment including cranes and welders.
  • Work with other Technicians on job orders and troubleshooting.
  • Attend extensive training on applicable equipment.

What You'll Do
  • Effectively monitor and inspect equipment for defects
  • Participates in the CMC Safety Programs and proactively upholds the CMC Safety Culture
  • Perform additional duties as needed
  • Perform all facets of the repair safely while utilizing hand tools, power tools and precision tools at different heights or adverse conditions
  • Perform building maintenance as required
  • Purchase supplies and parts for repair, track purchase requisitions when necessary
  • Able and willing to cross train as required
  • Attend extensive training regarding applicable equipment
  • Maintain good general housekeeping, keeping clean equipment and work area. Keep all tools in good working condition
  • Perform predictive/preventive/corrective maintenance, utilize computer systems and programs for documentation of maintenance/safety activities; perform time entry, enter notifications and work orders, enter corrective actions/comments
  • Repair and maintain shop machinery and mechanical equipment including overhead cranes, shears, benders, threaders, forges, induction heaters, and welders
  • Work with other Technicians on job orders and troubleshooting
What You'll Need
  • Must be able to work outside under all weather conditions to include working in the heat and cold weather
  • Welding skills preferred
  • Able to read technical documents and service manuals, write clearly
  • Both mechanically and electrically inclined with experience working in both areas
  • Experience servicing and repairing industrial equipment
  • Follow OSHA, EPA, and company safety policies, rules, and regulations
  • Minimum 4 years preferably in a heavy industrial environment
  • Possess a strong work ethic and practice safe working habits
  • Specific knowledge of hydraulics a plus
  • Ability to work as a team player in a fast paced environment, with strong work ethic, pay attention to detail and find root causes for issues
  • Possess proficient skills utilizing hand tools, power tools and precision tools for performing all facets of the repair and maintenance process
  • Work on rotating shifts with some overtime required
  • Able to work overtime as business requires
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders and steps, work outside under all weather conditions when needed
Your Education
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience is required
