Job summary

Westhab, a prominent community development organization in the Bronx, is seeking an IT Technician to install, troubleshoot, upgrade, and support computer hardware, software and network systems for staff.

You will handle ticketing, on-site and remote assistance, equipment delivery, and coordination with vendors while maintaining inventory and security systems. A two-year background in IT support is required and a driver’s license is essential.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
• At least two years of computer and network support experience.
• Proficiency in Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office.
• Fundamental understanding of network infrastructure (switches, hubs, routers, firewalls).
• Excellent customer service, interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently.
• Must have a Driver’s License and a car.
• Familiarity with Windows server operating systems, Citrix XenDesktop, SonicWall appliances and video surveillance is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Record IT requests via phone/email into the IT ticket system and monitor tickets.
• Open, follow up and log repair tickets with service providers.
• Support hardware: computers, printers, scanners, network equipment, and security video devices.
• Support desktop software and operating systems; install, troubleshoot and upgrade.
• Set up new network and computer equipment per standard procedures.
• Provide staff support by phone, remotely or on-site.
• Deliver computer equipment to Westhab sites as needed.
• Set up and remove user network accounts; maintain inventory of software/hardware.
• Coordinate with vendors and outside consultants as necessary.

JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: IT TECHNICIAN

POSITION SUMMARY:

Performs work installing, troubleshooting, servicing, upgrading network and computer software and hardware, and provides support to staff re: computer usage.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Record any IT requests via phone/email into IT ticket system. Monitor IT requests entered by users and make notes of user satisfaction when tickets are closed.
• Open/follow up/log repair tickets with voice/Internet/TV providers.
• Support all hardware, including installation, troubleshooting, upgrading and servicing of computers, printers, scanners, network equipment and security video equipment.
• Support desktop software and operating systems, including installation, troubleshooting, and upgrading.
• Setup new network and computer equipment following organization standard procedures.
• Provide staff support by phone, remotely and/or on-site.
• Deliver computer equipment or supplies to various Westhab sites.
• Set up, maintain and remove user network accounts.
• Maintain inventory of software and hardware installed.
• Coordinate with vendors and outside consultants as necessary.

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Education: Associate's Degree in Computer Science or technical related discipline.
• Experience: At least two years of computer and network support.
• Required Skills: Knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office Suites. Fundamental understanding of network infrastructure (switches, hubs, routers, firewalls, etc.). Excellent customer service, interpersonal, organizational and communication skills. Must enjoy solving a wide variety of problems on a continual basis. Must be able to work independently. Must have a Driver’s License and car.
• Preferred Skills: Familiarity of Windows server operating systems and Citrix XenDesktop. Familiarity with SonicWall appliances. Familiarity with video surveillance systems.
