Job summary

Concern Housing is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to handle day-to-day maintenance across its locations, with the home department based in Ronkonkoma, NY. The role requires a high school diploma (preferred) and related experience, plus a valid driver’s license and strong communication skills.

The position offers full-time hours at a Bronx location with a Tuesday–Saturday shift. Responsibilities include carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, painting, cleaning, and general upkeep.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma (preferred) along with 6 months or more related experience (preferred).
• Must have a valid Driver’s License and good communication and interpersonal skills, client/customer service skills and ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Must have the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work effectively with a team.
• Must have basic knowledge of cleaning products.

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of maintenance and repair tasks across buildings and grounds, including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, masonry, painting, cleaning, and yard work.
• Repairs and maintains fixtures and structures; reports malfunctions to supervisor.
• Overtime hours may be required as directed by the Director.
• Care for tools and equipment; keep work areas clean and safe.
• Keep agency compliance trainings up to date.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Description

Concern Housing is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to beresponsible for the day-to-day maintenance needs of Concern’s various locations and general upkeep of the agency’s property. This position's home department is in Ronkonkoma, NY.

Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:

• Performs a variety of work in the maintenance and repair of buildings and grounds at various facilities/sites including carpentry, minor electrical, plumbing, masonry, painting, cleaning, yard care; repairs and treats structures such as floors, showers, sinks, walls, carpets; repairs door hinges; changes filters on systems, services appliances, reports malfunctions to supervisor; moves and assists in moving furniture and equipment at various facilities/sites; exercises discretion in identifying projects requiring the services of higher skilled crafts person; maintains clean, safe and orderly work areas.
• Required to be available for overtime hours as needed and as directed by Director.
• Performs maintenance tasks as directed by the Maintenance Director and Maintenance Supervisor and Property Manager.
• Responsible for the care of tools and equipment being used in performing tasks.
• Remain current with all Agency required compliance documents and trainings.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

High School Diploma (preferred) along with 6 months or more related experience (preferred).Must have a valid Driver’s Licenseand good communication and interpersonal skills, client/customer service skills and ability to follow oral and written instructions. Must have the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work effectively with a team. Must have basic knowledge of cleaning products. The work requires routine walking, standing, bending and carrying items weighing less than fifty pounds and moving items over fifty pounds utilizes a team lift.
