Job summary

US Foods in Lexington is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to uphold and repair warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks, highlifts, and forklifts to keep day and night operations running smoothly. Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred; additional mechanic training or trade school degree preferred.
  • Six months minimum mechanic experience required.
  • Knowledge of equipment repair and operation; able to repair and overhaul warehouse equipment; welding ability.
  • Able to read and write legibly; follow orders; basic mathematical skills; able to work with little supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and maintain warehouse equipment (pallet jacks, highlifts, forklifts) to ensure availability for day and night operations.
  • Review equipment reports, record actions/repairs, and maintain a repair log.
  • Perform Preventative Maintenance (PM) and maintain PM logs per policy.
  • Comply with safety guidelines (Lock Out/Tag Out, placarding, safe work environment).
  • Maintain and secure battery charging area and tools/equipment; inventory management and secure storage.
  • May purchase tools from local vendors if authorized.
  • Perform light maintenance tasks (bulbs, painting, repairs, basic drywall/plaster).

Job description

BASIC PURPOSE

Responsible for upkeep and maintenance of warehouse-related equipment (i.e.pallet jacks, highlifts, forklifts, batteries, etc). This keeps day and nightwarehouse operations functional to ensure efficient shipping and receiving ofproduct.

The expected base rate for this role is $24.00 per hour.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform necessary repairs and maintenance to warehouse-related equipment (i.e.pallet jacks, highlifts, forklifts, etc.) to insure that adequate machinery isavailable for day and night warehouse operations.

Review any equipment reports submitted by warehouse associates, recordactions/repairs taken, and maintains a repair log per USF policy.

Perform PM’s (Preventative Maintenance) on equipment, and maintain PM log withproper documentation, per USF policy.

Comply with all USF and government guidelines regarding safety when working onequipment (i.e. Lock Out/Tag Out, placarding and required documentation, safework environment, etc.)

Maintain and secure the battery-charging area, batteries and other equipmentcontained therein.

Responsible for company tools and maintenance equipment used in performance ofjob duties, including inventory maintenance, safe operation, proper storage, andsecurity of tool area.

If authorized, may purchase tools and other equipment needs from local vendorsto perform required duties.

Performs light maintenance duties as assigned (i.e., replacement of light bulbs,painting, storage rack repairs, light plumbing, equipment repairs, basic drywalland concrete repairs, etc.)

RELATIONSHIPS

Internal: Warehouse personnel and supervisory staff, Operations support,Maintenance and Sanitation personnel

External: Outside vendors

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Training: High School education or equivalent preferred; additionalmechanic training or trade school degree preferred.

Related Experience: A minimum of six months previous mechanic experiencerequired.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Knowledge of equipment repair and operation; able torepair and overhaul warehouse equipment; welding ability; able to read and writelegibly; able to follow orders; basic mathematical skills (add, subtract,multiply, divide); able to work with little direct supervision

Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills,function, geographic location, and other factors applicable by law (for example:state minimum wage thresholds). The expected base rate for this role is between$24.00/hour and $31.53/hour.

As applicable, this role will also receive overtime compensation.
