Job summary

US Foods in Lexington, SC is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to upkeep and repair warehouse equipment, including pallet jacks, forklifts and highlifts. This role supports day and night operations to ensure efficient shipping and receiving of products.

The base rate is $24.00 per hour with benefits such as medical, dental, vision, 401K and life insurance. Schedule is Sunday through Thursday, 2:00pm to 10:30pm, with potential adjustments based on business needs and overtime opportunities.

Qualifications

  • High School education or equivalent; additional mechanic training or trade school preferred.
  • Minimum of six months' mechanic experience required.
  • Knowledge of equipment repair and operation; basic math and ability to read/write and follow orders.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and maintain warehouse equipment (pallet jacks, highlifts, forklifts) to ensure operations run smoothly.
  • Review equipment reports, record repairs, and maintain a repair log.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and maintain PM logs per policy.
  • Follow safety guidelines including Lock Out/Tag Out and proper documentation.
  • Maintain battery charging area and tools, ensure storage and security of equipment.
  • May purchase tools locally to complete duties; perform light maintenance tasks as assigned.

BASIC PURPOSE

Responsible for upkeep and maintenance of warehouse-related equipment (i.e.pallet jacks, highlifts, forklifts, batteries, etc). This keeps day and nightwarehouse operations functional to ensure efficient shipping and receiving ofproduct.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform necessary repairs and maintenance to warehouse-related equipment (i.e.pallet jacks, highlifts, forklifts, etc.) to insure that adequate machinery isavailable for day and night warehouse operations.
  • Review any equipment reports submitted by warehouse associates, recordactions/repairs taken, and maintains a repair log per USF policy.
  • Perform PM’s (Preventative Maintenance) on equipment, and maintain PM log withproper documentation, per USF policy.
  • Comply with all USF and government guidelines regarding safety when working onequipment (i.e. Lock Out/Tag Out, placarding and required documentation, safework environment, etc.).
  • Maintain and secure the battery-charging area, batteries and other equipmentcontained therein.
  • Responsible for company tools and maintenance equipment used in performance ofjob duties, including inventory maintenance, safe operation, proper storage, andsecurity of tool area.
  • If authorized, may purchase tools and other equipment needs from local vendorsto perform required duties.
  • Performs light maintenance duties as assigned (i.e., replacement of light bulbs,painting, storage rack repairs, light plumbing, equipment repairs, basic drywalland concrete repairs, etc.).
RELATIONSHIPS

Internal: Warehouse personnel and supervisory staff, Operations support,Maintenance and Sanitation personnel

External: Outside vendors

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Training: High School education or equivalent preferred; additionalmechanic training or trade school degree preferred.

Related Experience: A minimum of six months previous mechanic experiencerequired.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Knowledge of equipment repair and operation; able torepair and overhaul warehouse equipment; welding ability; able to read and writelegibly; able to follow orders; basic mathematical skills (add, subtract,multiply, divide); able to work with little direct supervision

Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills,function, geographic location, and other factors applicable by law (for example:state minimum wage thresholds). The expected base rate for this role is between$24.00/hour and $31.53/hour.

As applicable, this role will also receive overtime compensation.
