Job Description:
The GMP Asset Mechanic is responsible for ensuring that GMP production assets are evaluated prior to purchase, qualified, documented, maintained, commissioned, decommissioned, and stored for future use. This includes reviewing equipment and room design, executing qualification and maintenance activities, troubleshooting and assessing failures, implementing corrective and preventative actions, and contributing to the development of maintenance plans, tasks, procedures, and schedules. The individual also recommends or procures spare parts and consumables, supervises external contractors for equipment maintenance, and documents activities as directed.

Roles & Responsibilities:

1. Performs planned and unplanned maintenance on assets in a GMP environment, ensuring activities are properly documented.
2. Troubleshoots equipment and system failures, determines root causes, and recommends or performs corrective and preventative actions.
3. Manages equipment tooling, ensuring proper maintenance, tracking, and availability.
4. Coordinates equipment relocations, ensuring no damage occurs and assets are fully functional before use.
5. Supports installation of new equipment, including FAT, SAT, qualification protocols, and maintenance planning.
6. Works cross-functionally with operations, purchasing, planning, QA, project management, laboratory, manufacturing, etc., to schedule, perform, and document tasks related to GMP assets.
7. Develops and utilizes task lists and maintenance plans based on experience, manuals, and manufacturer support regarding equipment setup, operation, maintenance, and decommissioning.
8. Prepares and reviews work orders, permits, change controls, SOPs, specifications, and other procedures.
9. Trains personnel on equipment maintenance, setup, operation, cleaning, and SOPs.
10. Follows safety guidelines and participates in safety meetings and processes.
11. Provides input for budget forecasting and helps manage department expenses.
12. Maintains positive, professional, and confidential relationships with internal customers, clients, and vendors.
13. Complies with all regulatory requirements and guidelines.
14. Provides 24-hour emergency support as defined and performs other duties as assigned.
15. Adheres to safety and sustainability requirements, seeking clarification when needed.
16. Reports safety, sustainability issues, incidents, or deficiencies promptly and corrects them where possible.
17. Stops work if necessary to maintain safety.
18. Requires 5 years of relevant experience.
