Job summary

McElroy Metal in Bossier City, LA is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain metal fabrication equipment. The role includes preventive maintenance, parts replacement, and supporting cranes and mobile equipment, with a schedule 8:00 am - 5:00 pm M-F or alternate shifts.

Candidates need a high school diploma and 2–3 years of mechanical/maintenance experience, plus ability to perform electronic maintenance and rotate shifts.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 2–3 years in a mechanical/maintenance field.
• Ability to perform electronic and mechanical maintenance.
• Ability to rotate shifts occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical/mechanical troubleshooting on company equipment and obtain replacement parts.
• Dismantle devices to access and remove defective parts using hoists, cranes, and hand/power tools.
• Inspect parts for dimensional changes using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
• Adjust functional parts and control instruments using hand tools and levels.
• Repair or replace defective parts with hand/power tools.
• Install functional/structural parts in devices using hand tools.
• Provide LOTOTO responsibility and collaborate with employees.
• Perform Preventive Maintenance following OEM guidelines and timeline; report weekly PM/compliance.
• Support overhead cranes and coordinate with vendors for PM/inspections.
• Coordinate with vendors on mobile equipment repairs and internal PM.
• Set up and operate lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools.

8:00 am - 5:00 pm M-F or alternate shifts to accommodate production.

Responsibilities

• Perform all required electrical/mechanical troubleshooting on Company equipment, obtain necessary replacement parts, and perform required repairs.
• Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, power tools.
• Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
• Inspects used parts to determine to changes in dimensional requirements, using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
• Adjusts functional parts functional parts of devices and control instruments, using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs and straightedges.
• Repairs or replaces defective parts, using hand tools and power tools.
• Installs special functional and structural parts in devices, using hand tools.
• Assigned responsibility for LOTOTO and works with employees during such LOTOTO.
• Performs Preventive Maintenance on equipment following OEM guidelines and timeline
  • Provides weekly percent compliance of all major production equipment to the PM and OM
• Provides support for all overhead cranes and works with vendor for troubleshooting and scheduled PM/inspections.
• Works with Vendor on mobile equipment repairs and internal PM requirements
• Sets up and operates lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metal working tools to make and repair parts

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 2 to 3 years of experience in a mechanical/maintenance-related field.
• Demonstrated ability to perform electronic maintenance.
• Demonstrated ability to perform mechanical maintenance.
• Must have the ability to rotate shifts on occasion.
