Job summary

McElroy Metal in Bossier City, LA is seeking an experienced Maintenance Mechanic to keep building and production equipment running safely and efficiently. This hourly role requires hands-on electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and the ability to work independently with plant personnel.

You will set up and operate metalworking tools, dismantle and replace parts, coordinate with vendors for PM inspections, and support overhead cranes.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 2 to 3 years of experience in a mechanical/maintenance-related field.
• Demonstrated ability to perform electronic maintenance.
• Demonstrated ability to perform mechanical maintenance.
• Must have the ability to rotate shifts on occasion.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical/mechanical troubleshooting on company equipment and repair as needed.
• Dismantle devices to access and replace defective parts with hand/power tools.
• Inspect parts for wear and dimensional accuracy using calipers, micrometers, and related tools.
• Adjust and align functional parts and control instruments using appropriate tools.
• Install parts and components in devices as required.
• Support LOTOTO procedures and collaborate with staff during lockout procedures.
• Perform Preventive Maintenance following OEM guidelines and timelines and report weekly PM compliance.
• Provide support for overhead cranes and coordinate with vendors for PM/inspections.
• Set up and operate lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking equipment to fabricate/repair parts.

Summary

McElroy Metal, a leading manufacturer of metal roofing and metal building components, currently has an opening for a Maintenance Mechanic at our manufacturing facility located in Bossier City, Louisiana. This hourly position works both independently and with plant personnel to perform a variety of tasks to ensure that building/grounds, production equipment, and material handling equipment are functioning to manufacturer specs, are maintained for longevity, and operating safely. This position reports to the Production Manager.

Hours

8:00 am – 5:00 pm M-F or alternate shifts to accommodate production.

Responsibilities

• Perform all required electrical/mechanical troubleshooting on Company equipment, obtain necessary replacement parts, and perform required repairs.
• Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, power tools.
• Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
• Inspects used parts to determine to changes in dimensional requirements, using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
• Adjusts functional parts functional parts of devices and control instruments, using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs and straightedges.
• Repairs or replaces defective parts, using hand tools and power tools.
• Installs special functional and structural parts in devices, using hand tools.
• Assigned responsibility for LOTOTO and works with employees during such LOTOTO.
• Performs Preventive Maintenance on equipment following OEM guidelines and timeline
• Provides weekly percent compliance of all major production equipment to the PM and OM
• Provides support for all overhead cranes and works with vendor for troubleshooting and scheduled PM/inspections.
• Works with Vendor on mobile equipment repairs and internal PM requirements
• Sets up and operates lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metal working tools to make and repair parts

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 2 to 3 years of experience in a mechanical/maintenance-related field.
• Demonstrated ability to perform electronic maintenance.
• Demonstrated ability to perform mechanical maintenance.
• Must have the ability to rotate shifts on occasion.
