Job summary

Independent Stave Company is seeking a Benton Mill Maintenance Manager to lead maintenance for our stave mill. You will drive equipment reliability, support safe maintenance execution, and coordinate with production, quality, safety, engineering, and leadership to keep the facility running smoothly and safely.

The role requires ownership of priorities, quick response to issues, and a track record of improving reliability in a heavy industrial setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field preferred.
• Five+ years in progressive industrial maintenance with leadership.
• Experience with mechanical/electrical/pneumatic systems and PLCs.
• Knowledge of safety standards and permit-to-work processes.
• Experience with root‑cause analysis and reliability improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead maintenance across production equipment, utilities, and facilities.
• Drive safe maintenance execution aligned with OSHA and standards.
• Oversee PM/ predictive maintenance programs and schedules.
• Manage work orders, planning, labor, parts readiness, and backlog.
• Lead troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis for downtime.
• Coordinate downtime with production leadership to minimize disruption.
• Set standards for lubrication, guarding, calibration, and safe return to service.
• Provide floor leadership and ensure accountability for quality and handoffs.
• Coach and develop maintenance supervisors and technicians.
• Coordinate contractors and vendors, ensuring safety and scope alignment.
