Job summary

SSAB in Mobile, AL seeks a Maintenance Manager to lead Primary End upkeep, ensuring safe, reliable production and efficient equipment performance. You will oversee planning, outages, troubleshooting, and reliability improvements while applying root cause analysis and Lean methods.

You will develop the team, set priorities, and collaborate with engineering and central maintenance on capital projects, promoting safety and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• 10 years of heavy industrial maintenance experience, preferably in metals manufacturing.
• 3 years of experience leading a production or maintenance team.
• Understanding of production planning, maintenance systems, reliability practices, and project management.
• Technical knowledge of industrial mechanical, electrical, and automation systems.
• Proficiency with MES, CMMS, and Microsoft 365.
• Strong leadership, communication, organizational, collaboration, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Direct maintenance activities to improve equipment reliability, availability, and performance of Primary End production equipment and systems.
• Oversee planning, scheduling, and execution of preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance work, including outages.
• Establish department priorities; communicate goals and performance expectations; develop team members and promote collaboration and accountability.
• Use root cause analysis and other structured problem-solving methods to resolve recurring equipment issues and improve long-term reliability.
• Apply Lean methodologies and continuous improvement practices to reduce downtime, improve maintenance efficiency, control cost, and support operational excellence.
• Ensure proper utilization of plant maintenance software to track maintenance activities to appropriate assets.
