Job summary

Rango Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Manager to own the performance, reliability, and lifecycle cost of a multi-site fleet of heavy equipment and light vehicles in Chandler, AZ.

Job Description

The Maintenance Manager owns the performance, reliability, and lifecycle cost of a multi-site fleet of heavy equipment and light vehicles. Reporting to area leadership and operations management, this role leads maintenance superintendents and site maintenance leadership across an assigned region, sets maintenance strategy and standards, and is accountable for compliance with all MSHA/OSHA regulations and company safety policies at every site in the area.

• Own maintenance cost against the area P&L — build and forecast the budget, control spend, explain variances, and manage cost per operating hour, parts and inventory, outside repair, and labor spend
• Own equipment availability as a primary performance measure; set targets by fleet and asset class, monitor daily, and drive the corrective action required to hit them
• Develop and enforce a disciplined preventive maintenance program across plant, mobile equipment, and light vehicle fleets — PM schedules and intervals, planning and scheduling, backlog management, and PM compliance — driving the shift from reactive repair to planned, predictive, and preventive work
• Track and report KPIs to area leadership and operations management: mechanical availability, utilization, MTBF, PM compliance, downtime, and cost per operating hour
• Manage the fleet across its lifecycle — acquisition input, utilization, rebuild vs. replace, and disposal — with total cost of ownership as the measure
• Build, lead, and develop high-performing maintenance teams: recruit, hire, coach, mentor, and retain superintendents and site maintenance leadership, growing bench strength ahead of the company's expansion
• Manage vendor, dealer, and supplier relationships, including service agreements, warranty recovery, and negotiated parts and labor pricing
• Approve and prioritize purchase orders, maintenance work orders, and repair work within delegated authority, including all safety and work permits
• Standardize maintenance software use, work order discipline, and data quality across every site in the area, including newly mobilized operations
• Oversee labor planning, staffing levels, and employee time and attendance across the area's maintenance organization, and ensure compliance with all department policies, procedures, and safety rules
• Assure the safety of personnel through compliance with MSHA regulations; lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action for maintenance-related events
• Coordinate communication and directives between the labor force, site leadership, company personnel, customers, and senior management
• Partner with area leadership and operations management on mobilization, demobilization, capital planning, and long-range fleet strategy

Qualifications

• Proven team building and leadership experience — a demonstrated track record of hiring, developing, and retaining maintenance teams, including leaders who report to you
• Minimum five (5) years of maintenance leadership experience, including supervision of maintenance supervisors or superintendents
• Demonstrated ownership of maintenance cost within a P&L: budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and cost per operating hour
• Demonstrated track record of improving equipment availability and reliability through a structured preventive maintenance program
• Previous experience managing heavy equipment and light vehicle maintenance across multiple sites or a large single operation
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly growing organization and adapt as the business scales
• Strong experience with maintenance software programs (CMMS), Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; HCSS Equipment360 (E360) preferred
• Experience with civil, mining equipment, and mass excavation (preferred)
• Working knowledge of MSHA/OSHA regulations and mine site safety programs
• Strong delegation, organizational, and written and verbal English communication skills with reports, peers, management, and clients
• Ability to form and foster collaborative relationships within the Company, customers, and suppliers, and a commitment to teach and train others
• Willingness to travel as needed, up to 75%
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
• Ability to lift 50 lbs., safely climb ladders, and regularly walk on uneven ground
