We’re reimagining the minerals supply chain by combining deep industry expertise with advanced software, automation, and data-driven decision-making.

Through its Copper One platform, Mariana Minerals owns and operates the Lisbon Valley Mining Company, a producing open-pit copper mine in southeastern Utah. The operation relies on safe, reliable mobile equipment to support drilling, blasting, loading, hauling, crushing, and heap leach processing.

The Mine Maintenance Mechanic is a hands‑on role responsible for diagnosing, repairing, inspecting, and maintaining heavy mobile equipment and support systems in both shop and field environments. The ideal candidate brings strong troubleshooting skills, mining or heavy industrial experience, and a strong safety mindset, with a focus on reducing downtime, improving equipment reliability, and supporting safe, efficient production.

Required Qualifications:
  • Perform mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on mobile mining equipment, including haul trucks, loaders, dozers, graders, and ancillary equipment.

  • Conduct preventive maintenance, routine inspections, and condition-monitoring activities in accordance with OEM guidelines and established maintenance schedules.

  • Diagnose equipment failures, identify root causes, complete corrective repairs, and support reliability initiatives that improve equipment availability and reduce downtime.

  • Service and repair auxiliary equipment, including light vehicles, compressors, pumps, generators, and other site equipment as needed.

  • Perform maintenance in both shop and field environments, safely operating service trucks, cranes, lifting devices, specialty tools, and diagnostic equipment.

  • Accurately document inspections, repairs, parts used, equipment condition, and maintenance activity in work orders, logs, and maintenance systems.

  • Follow MSHA regulations, lockout/tagout procedures, PPE requirements, company policies, and equipment-specific SOPs while maintaining safe, organized work areas.

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED; technical or vocational training in mechanics or maintenance preferred.

  • Minimum 3 years of maintenance experience in mining, heavy equipment, construction, industrial, or similar environments.

  • Strong working knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, drivetrains, electrical systems, and heavy equipment components.

  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, service manuals, and diagnostic documentation.

  • Proficiency with troubleshooting tools, mechanical testing equipment, and service trucks.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with operators, supervisors, and technical teams.

  • Ability to work safely in an active mine environment and perform physically demanding tasks.

  • Experience working on Caterpillar, Komatsu, or other large mining equipment brands.

  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).

  • Welding and fabrication skills (MIG, stick, cutting).

  • Experience performing field repairs in remote or rugged conditions.

  • Knowledge of predictive maintenance and equipment health monitoring techniques.

Working Environment and Schedule:
  • Schedule: 7 days on / 7 days off, working 12-hour shifts. As operations expand, employees may rotate between day and night shifts and must be available for on-call coverage as needed.

  • Housing & Relocation: Housing and relocation assistance options are available.

  • Work Environment: Approximately 70% field-based and 30% office-based work, including work in active mining areas, rugged terrain, and outdoor conditions.

  • Ability to walk long distances over rough or uneven terrain, climb ladders and structures, and lift a minimum of 50 pounds.

  • Ability to work safely in all weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, and in environments with potential exposure to dust, fumes, diesel exhaust, solvents, sulfuric acid, and other hazardous materials.

  • Must wear and properly use all required PPE, including hard hat, steel-toed footwear, safety glasses, high-visibility vest, hearing protection, respirator when required, and protective clothing.
