P&C Recruiting | H.R. is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to oversee safe, efficient maintenance for shovel and drill fleets. Lead crews, plan tasks, ensure tool availability, and enforce safety and SOPs across the department.

The role requires strong leadership, planning, and communication skills, with experience in mining or heavy industry and a valid driver’s license. 18+ with US work authorization preferred.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Maintenance, preferably in mining or construction.
  • Two years’ supervisory experience preferred.
  • Must participate in shutdown planning.
  • Ability to lead and train crews; enforce SOPs.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and be 18+ years old.

Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Maintenance General Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible to ensure a safe, efficient, and productive work environment, while continuously aligning daily functions to reflect the Company’s values and in compliance with Company policies. Leading by example in Safety, Attendance, Attitude and Performance.

Essential Functions
  • Ensures that all planned maintenance activities for the shovel and drill fleets are properly executed in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Develop maintenance assignments and assign crews to specific tasks to meet daily mine maintenance goals within the Company for Maintenance.
  • Supervise crew activities during shifts to ensure safe and efficient accomplishment of assignments.
  • Develop crew skills through task and special training to the levels of maximum efficiency and safety.
  • Works with the planning department and other maintenance personnel to ensure that all parts, special tools, and equipment necessary to complete a planned task are available and accounted for before the job commences.
  • Perform daily administrative duties such as time cards, reports, supply requisitions, effective safety meetings, environmental reports, safety inspections / reports, vacation schedules/ coverage time sheets, shift logs, perform work place inspections, perform daily work order management and manage daily workload.
  • Maintain accurate and up to date records of work performed. Keeping daily schedules of both reactive and proactive work performed.
  • Maintain a performance log on each of your reporting personnel. Ensure Personnel Evaluations are completed on time.
  • This position is responsible for a staff of 5+ individuals, including mechanics, welders, electricians, and laborers.
  • Responsible for crew training to include signing of the MSHA 5000-23 forms for all applicable jobs in the department.
  • Must be able & willing to conduct weekly Safety Talks for the process group, and daily crew lineouts & any other assigned meetings.
  • Ensure optimum use of facilities and equipment. Maintaining upkeep on all maintenance vehicles.
  • Be a liaison with operations to plan, monitor, and execute planned maintenance, capital, and construction projects. Identify duration of maintenance or repair activity on equipment or facilities.
  • Possesses good communication and interpersonal skills. Able to hold good relations with other department leaders.
  • Help in the development of other department personnel to perform duties listed above.
  • Consistently exercises discretion and judgment in job performance. Monitoring and evaluating job performances.
  • Works without risk or harm to self and others. Always maintaining a Safety awareness.
  • Promote and maintain Critical Risk Management (CRM) program.
  • Must have general knowledge of company rules and policies so that decisions made are in conformance with company requirements. Schedule work assignments and prioritize crew activities in consultation with the General Supervisor. Guidance of crew members to ensure that a harmonious work environment is maintained when dealing with various personalities in the work force.
  • Conduct accident or incident investigations.
  • Keeps in active communication with the Maintenance General Supervisor, and periodically updates to him/her on the status of all work performed.
  • Daily communication with the General Supervisor is required. Must ensure that he/she is immediately informed of important information, such as changes to the process, equipment problems, employee problems and incidents.
  • Compliance with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to safety, environmental, confidentiality and code of conduct.
  • Meets or exceeds established performance expectations set by management.
  • Punctuality and regular attendance required.
  • Performs other related functions as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications And Skill Requirements
  • Must be able to operate JDE.
  • Working knowledge and skill with P.C. utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Maintenance, preferable in a construction or mining environment.
  • Two years’ experience in a supervisory capacity preferred.
  • This person may be required to participate in shutdown planning.
  • Ensure that internal and external communication within the department is maintained. Interacts with various departments and roles. Delivers clear and concise instructions to the maintenance team and direct reports.
  • Direct supervision of crew members to execute the operational plan for the week. Must hold crew members accountable for using SOPs to execute their work.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with all personnel inside and outside the department to ensure continuity of operations.
  • Will be responsible for helping develop and review all SOPs related to the Maintenance Department. Must collaborate with the trainer when changes to procedures are necessary and communicate these changes to respective crew members.
  • This individual must be willing to attend required classes to enhance their effectiveness as a supervisor.
  • Possesses strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must understand maintenance operations, as well as ore processing and mine operations.
  • Prioritize the quality of maintenance execution over just repair time. Minimize rework, and ensure safe and reliable equipment performance.
  • Leading teams/building successful teams: Demonstrates the ability to engage crew members and other stakeholders in improvement activities, daily tasks, or quality reviews.
  • Maintaining work standards through establishing and applying consistent standards across crews.
  • Driving and facilitating change by adopting new ideas, improvements, and best practices, then implementing these changes in the workplace.
  • Create opportunities for succession planning by delegating responsibility to build experience.
  • Identifying and developing talent: Ensure proper selection of key personnel for the right roles and have a succession plan in place.
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical, and persuasive skills, with the ability to interact effectively at all levels of employees and management.
  • Ability to work independently and also as a member of the management team.
  • Demonstrates strong administrative, organizational and writing skills.
  • Must be 18 years old and presently authorized to work in the United States on a full time basis.
  • Requires valid driver’s license.
