Job summary

MTM Transit seeks a Manager, Fleet Maintenance to lead the fleet maintenance program, ensuring vehicles are serviced on time and safely. Duties include directing staff, coordinating preventive maintenance, and maintaining compliance with DOT/FTA standards.

The role is based at our Denver, CO location and offers opportunities to impact community transportation. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) and at least 3 years of leadership experience in a transit fleet

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field is required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Journeyman level experience with medium/large gasoline engines, A/C systems, and wheelchair lifts is required.
  • 3 years (within last 5 years) of managing maintenance functions of a transit bus maintenance shop of similar scope and complexity.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee maintenance, service, diagnosing and minor repair of MTM Transit service vehicles.
  • Plan and schedule team workloads based on preventive maintenance tasks, budgets, and personnel.
  • Develop vehicle tracking and fleet maintenance portfolio for cost effectiveness.
  • Ensure vehicle documentation (registration, insurance) is current and kept in vehicle.
  • Track and report weekly maintenance issues and risks to leadership.
  • Review DVIR for accuracy and address issues.
  • Establish network of local repair vendors for cost effectiveness.

What will your job look like?

The Manager, Fleet Maintenance oversees and maintains an effective fleet maintenance program to ensure that fleet vehicles are maintained in an effective and safety conscious manner. The Manager, Fleet Maintenance will be able to perform duties in a timely manner and advise leadership of any potential issues that could affect the overall performance and longevity of the fleet.

What You’ll Do:


  • Provide daily guidance and support to direct reports

  • Responsible for maintenance, service, diagnosing and minor repair of MTM Transit service vehicles

  • Plan and schedule team workloads based on preventative maintenance tasks, utilizing budget and personnel

  • Develop vehicle tracking and fleet maintenance portfolio to ensure cost effective means of maintaining fleet

  • Ensure vehicle documentation (i.e., registration, insurance, etc.) is current and kept in vehicle as required

  • Track and report weekly all maintenance issues and potential risks to leadership

  • Review driver history to ensure safe driving practices and identify any potential safety issues

  • Train drivers and maintenance staff on correct pre-trip and post-trip inspections procedures to include completing DVIRs

  • Review DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports) for accurateness and address any issues annotated

  • Establish a network of local repair vendors to utilize for services to ensure the most cost effective means of repair and servicing

  • Ensure OSHA, DOT, and FTA compliance

  • Ensure shop or facility is clean and kept in a professional working manner

  • Report any spills, falls, incidents to Manager as required


What you’ll need:


  • Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience) in a related field

  • Must have 3 years (within the last 5 years) of recent and relevant experience managing maintenance functions of a transit bus maintenance shop similar in scope, size (100 in fleet) and complexity to the work and with the same of similar type of transit vehicles/equipment.

  • journeyman level experience with medium/large gasoline engines, air conditioning systems, and wheelchair lifts.

  • Previous management experience in fleet maintenance area preferred

  • Must possess a valid current driver's license

  • ASE certifications, preferred

  • Experience working with alternative fuel engines preferred

  • Supervising hourly personnel experience preferred

  • Experience with hands-on training preferred

Salary Minimum: $100,000/annually


Salary Maximum: $110,000/annually
