Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is partnering with a leading structural steel fabricator in Charlotte to recruit a hands-on Maintenance Leader who will drive preventative maintenance initiatives, minimize downtime, and support operational excellence across a high‑volume fabrication facility.

The role oversees a team of technicians, electricians and contractors, ensuring equipment reliability for CNC fabrication, welding systems and heavy machinery while adhering to OSHA standards and cost controls.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in structural steel fabrication.
• Experience maintaining CNC fabrication equipment and heavy industrial machinery.
• Proven ability to lead maintenance teams and manage budgets.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA and safety programs.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all maintenance activities across the fabrication facility.
• Develop and implement preventative and predictive maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime.
• Oversee the maintenance and repair of fabrication equipment including CNC machinery and overhead cranes.
• Manage a team of maintenance technicians and contractors while promoting safety.
• Prioritize maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic issues.
• Coordinate equipment installations, upgrades and capital projects.
• Develop maintenance budgets and manage spare parts inventory.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and safety policies.
• Collaborate with Production, Operations, Engineering and Plant Leadership to improve performance.
• Analyze equipment reliability data and drive continuous improvement.

Job description

Our client is a leading structural steel fabricator delivering complex commercial projects across the United States.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on maintenance leader with experience in structural steel fabrication who can drive preventative maintenance initiatives, minimize downtime and support ongoing operational excellence.

Job Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all maintenance activities across the fabrication facility
• Develop and implement preventative and predictive maintenance programs to maximize equipment up time
• Oversee the maintenance and repair of fabrication equipment, including CNC machinery, beam lines, drill lines, saws, robotic welding systems, overhead cranes, plasma tables and material handling equipment
• Manage a team of maintenance technicians, electricians and contractors while promoting a strong safety culture
• Prioritize maintenance schedules to minimize production downtime and maximize operational efficiency
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment issues
• Coordinate equipment installations, upgrades and capital improvement projects
• Develop maintenance budgets and manage spare parts inventory
• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with OSHA regulations, company safety policies and preventative maintenance standards
• Work closely with Production, Operations, Engineering, and Plant Leadership to improve manufacturing performance
• Analyse equipment reliability data and implement continuous improvement initiatives
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, documentation and KPI reporting

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years' experience within structural steel fabrication
• Experience maintaining CNC fabrication equipment, welding systems, overhead cranes and heavy industrial machinery
