Job summary

Boyle Transportation, a UPS Healthcare Company, seeks a Maintenance Manager to oversee day-to-day maintenance of fleet, equipment and facilities, ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant operations.

You will lead maintenance staff, coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance, and work with safety and operations to minimize downtime while maximizing asset availability. This role requires strong leadership, strategic planning, and budget management.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in fleet maintenance
  • 5+ years in a leadership role
  • Ability to obtain a Department of Defense Security Clearance
  • Deep understanding of diesel engines, trailers, shop operations and regulatory requirements
  • Strong leadership capabilities and track record of reducing downtime
  • Experience managing large budgets and implementing process improvements
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and strong communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and integrity
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the maintenance team including technicians
  • Develop and implement strategic maintenance plans that align with company goals
  • Set performance targets and KPIs for fleet, technicians and company in regard to maintenance
  • Collaborate with safety, operations, accounting and other departments to improve fleet reliability
  • Oversee maintenance programs related to fleet equipment
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state and local DOT regulations and standards
  • Adhere to maintenance budgets to ensure cost-effective operations without compromising safety or compliance
  • Negotiate contracts with external parts suppliers and vendors and evaluate performance
  • Leverage maintenance programs (Fleetio, Samsara) for tracking, reporting and forecasting
  • Identify and implement new maintenance practices and technology to align with company goals
  • Plan and manage lifecycle replacement strategies for equipment
  • Work with HR to recruit, train, and retain skilled personnel for the maintenance team
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Job description

SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing the day‑to‑day maintenance operations for Boyle Transportation’s fleet, equipment, and facilities to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operations. This role leads maintenance personnel, coordinates preventive and corrective maintenance activities, and works closely with operations and safety teams to minimize downtime and maximize equipment availability. The Maintenance Manager ensures all maintenance activities meet applicable regulatory requirements and company standards while supporting operational goals through effective planning, resource allocation, and budget management. This position monitors maintenance performance, manages vendor relationships and inventory, and implements continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, control costs, and extend the life cycle of company assets in a fast‑paced transportation environment.

  • Work with HR to recruit, train, and retain skilled personnel for the maintenance team.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, preferred.
  • Diesel Mechanic (ASE) Certification, preferred.
  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in fleet maintenance required.
  • 5+ years of experience in a leadership role required.
  • Capable of acquiring a Department of Defense Security Clearance.
  • Deep understanding of diesel engines, trailers, shop operations, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong leadership capabilities.
  • Proven track record in reducing downtime, managing large budgets, and implementing process improvements.
  • Ability to effectively manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • High level of integrity and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Excellent PC skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • This position does not have any direct reports.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75 % of the time.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift 50+ pounds.
Travel Requirements
  • This position will be required to travel to each Boyle location quarterly.
