Job summary

Ameri-Kart, a Myers Industries company, seeks an experienced maintenance supervisor to lead the team responsible for production equipment, facilities, and grounds. You will drive preventive maintenance and manage projects to support safe, high-quality, on-time operations.

You will coordinate with operations, suppliers, and other departments to meet safety, quality, cost and delivery targets while upholding ISO procedures and 5S in the facility.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 6 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 3 years supervising a maintenance team.
  • Strong troubleshooting across electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
  • Proficient with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), Excel, and MS Project.
  • Demonstrated leadership and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to drive projects independently.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, train, motivate, and evaluate maintenance personnel; ensure safe operation of equipment.
  • Supervise Technical Service to oversee repairs, mold changes, and other services.
  • Identify and secure resources for project tasks.
  • Manage schedules to complete projects on time and within budget.
  • Communicate project status and act as liaison with operations.
  • Drive risk mitigation plans and maintain action registers for projects.
  • Assist with maintaining the PM/repair database per ISO procedures.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance on molding machines, equipment, and facilities to ensure operability.

Job description

We manufacture a wide range of molded plastic products and complete product assembly to meet your specific design requirements.

This position provides leadership, direction, and coordination of team members in the maintenance department to maintain and repair the production equipment, facilities and grounds for the operation to meet its safety, quality, cost and delivery targets. This role also actively participates and supports a work environment focused on preventive maintenance and timely project support.

Responsibilities:
  • Plans and coordinates work, trains, motivates, monitors, and evaluates performance of maintenance personnel; ensures their ability to safely work and operate equipment; counsels, documents, and disciplines as necessary.
  • Supervise the Technical Service department employees to oversee maintenance repairs, mold changes and other technical services performed on the shift. The necessary supplies are available, and the repairs are done on a timely basis.
  • Identify and secure resources for project tasks.
  • Manage and development schedules to complete projects on time and within budget, while delivering reliable and high-quality results.
  • Communicate and manage project status and serve as the primary interface with operations when required.
  • Drive problem resolution by identifying project risks and providing plans to mitigate those risks. Maintain action registers for projects.
  • Assist with maintaining the PM/repair database as required by ISO procedures.
  • Make necessary repairs and coordinate preventive maintenance on the molding machines, support equipment, forklifts, and building / grounds to ensure the continued operability and proper maintenance of all. Ensure all equipment meets OSHA standards for Safety and proper operation.
  • Responsible for the inspection of new machinery to ensure it has been properly serviced before being put into operation.
  • Maintain and continue to improve 5S within the facility.
  • Interact with suppliers to receive the best pricing and quality.
  • Interact with other departments and molding facilities in scheduling of machinery and resources.
  • Active role with new product testing and interaction with external and internal suppliers.
  • Provides analysis and recommended solutions to the manufacturing process.
  • Research and study advanced technology and manufacturing procedures in relation to department.
  • Follows all policies and procedures including safety and conduct standards and ensures the maintenance team also complies.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 6 years of experience in industrial maintenance in a manufacturing environment required
  • 3 years of experience supervising a maintenance team required
  • Must have strong skills in troubleshooting and directing the repair of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical problems; required.
  • Have a solid background in leadership with excellent verbal skills.
  • Self-motivated, take ownership of projects, and work efficiently to meet short timelines.
  • Must have the ability to drive projects independently.
  • Must be proficient with a Computerized Maintenance Work Order system, Excel, and Microsoft Project.
  • Proficient computer skills and an in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to work in a hot humid environment for extended periods of time.
  • Must be comfortable working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to be present in the production area for most of the time.
  • Must be able to stand a majority of the shift.
  • Require pushing, pulling, sitting, climbing, kneeling, crouching, twisting, reaching, walking, gripping and bending.
    • Must be able to bend, stretch, lift, and pull molds that weigh 45+ lbs.
  • Good vision required with or without corrective device (near, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception).
  • Able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety glasses, steel toe shoes or boot, earplugs, etc.
