Job Summary

The maintenance mechanic is a line mechanic responsible for troubleshooting and repair of facility and manufacturing equipment, including basic electrical maintenance. The mechanic will maintain high-speed printing, binding, and packaging equipment, along with various other equipment within the facility. Strong mechanical and some electrical troubleshooting skills are required.

Essential Functions

1. Perform repair and preventive maintenance on various mechanical equipment within the facility.
2. Participate in improving maintenance systems by providing feedback, editing work plans, and modifying preventive maintenance procedures.
3. Communicate effectively with coworkers.
4. Follow operational procedures and plans.
5. Maintain expertise in Lock out/Tag out procedures.
6. Perform machine repairs, troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues.
7. Maintain hydraulic systems.
8. Conduct light electrical work such as wiring, relay replacement, and outlet installation.
9. Perform minor carpentry tasks like replacing locks, ceiling tiles, and painting.
10. Handle minor plumbing tasks such as clearing drains and replacing pipes and hoses.
11. Assist with tooling change-overs on production equipment as needed.
12. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of tools and a general understanding of automated production machinery.
• Ability to read schematics is a plus.
• Experience operating shop equipment such as drill presses, welders, and torches.
• Excellent mechanical aptitude.
• Self-directed with strong troubleshooting skills.
• Strong skills as a millwright or machinist.
• Ability to use precision maintenance instruments and techniques.
• Experience with machine shop equipment like lathes and mills.
• Ability to fabricate parts from stock; pipe fitting and sheet metal skills are a plus.
• Ability to perform Root Cause Analysis on chronic problems.

Education/Experience

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• At least 3 years of experience as a maintenance technician, electrician, or machinist in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Welding experience is preferred.
• Experience troubleshooting and maintaining automated industrial equipment.
