Epiroc in Two Harbors, MN is seeking a Maintenance Lead to provide day-to-day technical leadership while performing hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, calibration, and adjustment of electrical and mechanical equipment across production lines. You will mentor staff, prioritize work safely, coordinate with operations and contractors, and drive reliability improvements.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in electrical, electronics, automation, industrial maintenance, or related technical discipline preferred.
• Minnesota Class A Journeyman electrician certificate/license preferred.
• Minimum 7 years of experience maintaining progressive industrial electrical/mechanical equipment.
• Minimum 5 years of experience with low‑voltage electrical maintenance.
• Experience with CNC tools, robotic welding systems, overhead cranes and hoists, PLCs and industrial automation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Respond to maintenance requests and prioritize work based on safety and production impact.
• Provide day-to-day technical leadership to maintenance staff and coordinate work assignments.
• Lead complex electrical and mechanical troubleshooting including CNCs, PLCs, automation and robotics.
• Install, inspect, maintain and repair electrical and mechanical equipment using schematics and diagnostic tools.

As aMaintenance Lead you will provide day-to-day technical leadership while performing hands‑on maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, modification, calibration, and adjustment of electrical and mechanical equipment, industrial process equipment, and production machinery. This position serves as a primary technical resource for complex breakdowns, supports work prioritization, mentors maintenance employees, coordinates with operations and contractors, and drives improvements in equipment reliability, preventive maintenance, documentation, and safe work practices.

Responsibilities:

• Respond to maintenance requests and help prioritize work based on safety, production impact, equipment criticality, and available resources
• Provide day-to-day technical leadership to maintenance employees without replacing formal people-management responsibilities; assign or coordinate work as directed and support effective shift handoffs
• Lead complex electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, including CNC equipment alarm codes, machine faults, controllers, PLCs, process controls, motor controls, automation equipment, robotic welding equipment, overhead cranes/hoists, and related systems
• Lay out, install, inspect, maintain, and repair electrical and mechanical equipment using prints, schematics, manuals, diagnostic tools, and sound troubleshooting methods
• Mentor and coach maintenance employees in safe work practices, troubleshooting techniques, electrical fundamentals, documentation expectations, and effective use of the preventive maintenance system
• Coordinate maintenance activities with production, engineering, SHEQ, vendors, and contractors to minimize disruption and ensure work is completed safely and effectively
• Support planning and execution of equipment installations, upgrades, relocations, shutdown work, and reliability‑improvement projects
• Lead or support root‑cause analysis for recurring or high‑impact equipment failures and follow corrective actions through completion
• Maintain and improve preventive and predictive maintenance procedures, job plans, inspection standards, guidelines, and schedules
• Ensure work orders are documented accurately and completely, including labor, parts, failure details, corrective actions, and follow‑up needs
• Determine and source the parts, tools, materials, and outside services necessary to complete work; identify obsolete or critical spares and recommend stocking needs
• Review manuals, prints, settings, and maintenance records and keep documentation current when equipment or processes change
• Promote compliance with PPE requirements, lockout/tagout, electrical safe‑work practices, permits, and all applicable safety programs and policies
• Respond to and help coordinate mitigation of emergency facility issues, including fire‑suppression concerns, water or pipe leaks, roof leaks, door alarms, utility interruptions, and other urgent conditions
• Operate and maintain heavy equipment and powered industrial vehicles as authorized
• Coordinate and document required equipment training, operator authorization, and certification or recertification for maintenance employees, including forklifts, scissor lifts, aerial lifts, cranes/hoists, and other powered industrial equipment, as applicable.
• Maintain maintenance work areas and support overall facility upkeep and maintenance
• Communicate effectively with management, coworkers, contractors, technicians, and other stakeholders, including clear status updates and escalation of risk, downtime, or resource constraints
• Support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to improve reliability, maintainability, safety, cost, and response time; provide input on maintenance KPIs and recurring issues
• Be available for rotational shifts, overtime, and call‑ins to perform repairs and preventive maintenance outside normal production hours
• Perform work that may require frequent lifting of equipment and tooling up to 33 pounds and safe work in tight or awkward spaces
• Maintain required driving eligibility, including successful completion of the Corporate MVR screening process and DOT physical, when applicable
• Demonstrate continued development of craft and leadership skills and perform other duties as assigned

The compensation for this position is between $32.00 and$41.00hourly depending on experience and qualifications. This range reflects our commitment to fair pay based on skills, experience, and market standards.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Associate degree in electrical, electronics, automation, industrial maintenance, or a related technical discipline is preferred
• Current and valid Minnesota Class A Journeyman electrician certificate/license, or equivalent experience and demonstrated competency is preferred
• Minimum 7 years of experience maintaining progressive industrial electrical/mechanical, including demonstrated success troubleshooting complex production equipment
• Minimum 5 years of experience with low‑voltage electrical maintenance
• Experience with CNC machine tools, robotic welding systems, overhead cranes and hoists, PLC programming or diagnostics, and industrial automation is preferred
• Experience leading equipment installations, shutdown work, reliability improvements, or root‑cause investigations is preferred
• Experience training or mentoring maintenance technicians and improving preventive maintenance or work‑management practices is preferred
• Experience providing or coordinating equipment training and maintaining operator qualification records for forklifts, scissor lifts, aerial lifts, cranes/hoists, or similar industrial equipment is preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the National Electrical Code and applicable state and local electrical requirements preferred

Skills & Abilities:

• Advanced knowledge of power distribution, motor control centers, low‑voltage AC and DC variable‑speed motor controls, PLCs, process controls, automation, and industrial electrical systems
• Strong working knowledge of preventive maintenance systems, work‑order documentation, equipment history, parts identification, and maintenance planning
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, ladder logic, equipment manuals, and technical documentation
• Demonstrated ability to lead complex troubleshooting and coordinate work across maintenance, operations, engineering, contractors, and vendors
• Demonstrated ability to mentor others, communicate expectations, provide technical direction, and support a collaborative team environment
• Ability to communicate clearly with employees at all levels and provide concise updates on safety, downtime, priorities, and technical risk
