Job summary

YMCA Robin Hood Group seeks a skilled Maintenance Joiner/Handyperson to join our Housing team in Mansfield, undertaking carpentry, joinery and general maintenance across our properties with travel to other locations as needed.

Your day-to-day includes carpentry and joinery tasks, repairs, and occasional plumbing, painting and gardening. A Level 2+ joinery/carpentry qualification is desirable. A driving licence is essential, with a fleet vehicle provided.

• Relevant trade qualification to at least Level 2 in joinery/carpentry (Level 2/3 Diploma in Site Carpentry or NVQ 2/3 in Carpentry and Joinery) is highly desirable.
• Driving licence is required; fleet vehicle provided; travel allowance up to £3,600 per year.

Job description

YMCA Robin Hood Group provides temporary housing for vulnerable adults in a network of transitional houses across Nottingham and the surrounding areas.

We are looking for a Maintenance Joiner/Handyperson to join our Housing team to undertake a range of carpentry, joinery and other maintenance work for our properties.

Whilst you will be based in Mansfield, you will also be expected to travel to other locations across the county when required to support in our other regions such as Ashfield and Worksop.

You can expect your day to day role to include:

• Undertaking a range of carpentry, and joinery jobs
• Carrying out repairs and general maintenance
• When required, undertaking a range of other maintenance tasks, including plumbing, painting, and gardening.

About You

You will have experience of working in a qualified trade position as a joiner / carpenter and possibly have broader experience if you have worked in a maintenance or caretaking in a work environment.

A relevant trade qualification to at least level 2 in joinery and / or carpentry e.g. Level 2 / 3 Diploma in Site Carpentry, NVQ 2 / 3 in Carpentry and Joinery, level 2/3 Bench Joinery, is also highly desirable. We are happy and able to put you through additional qualifications to support your experience too.

You will need a driving licence so that you are able to travel around our network of properties although you will be provided with a fleet vehicle and all the tools needed to do your job. If you wish to use your own vehicle for travel between our homes, we can offer a travel allowance of up to £3,600 per year.
