Job summary

Avery Healthcare Group is seeking a Maintenance Operative for Braintree Mews Care Home in Braintree. You’ll help keep the building and grounds well maintained while supporting residents and staff daily.

This role emphasizes safety, flexibility and hands-on repairs across electrical, plumbing, joinery and decorating tasks, with an on-call rota and opportunities to grow within a caring environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year experience in general maintenance or a handy person role.
• Full driving licence required.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety, including Moving and Handling, Fire Safety, and COSHH.
• Flexible and adaptable to cover a range of responsibilities at short notice.

Responsibilities

• Carry out all general maintenance tasks and basic repairs including electrical, plumbing, joinery and building tasks inside and outside the Home.
• Support new residents to arrange their room as they wish.
• Ensure routine re-decoration is undertaken to maintain standards in the home.
• Advise on the supply and quality of items used to carry out tasks, ensuring timely ordering of replacement goods.
• Provide out of hours emergency service, participating in the on-call rota.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Your focus as a Maintenance Operative

willbetoensurethe building and grounds are wellmaintained, undertaking a variety of routine maintenance tasks, checks to services applying basic fixes to equipment and systemswhilstensuringfacilities are fully functional.

Other responsibilities will include:

• Carryingout all general maintenance tasks and basic repairs includingall electrical, plumbing joinery and building tasks both inside and outside the Home.
• Supporting new residents to arrange their room as they wish.
